Matched Mentality Mania Midnight Messiah is The Haunting Of Hill House Dream Theory Explanation :
MM = Midnight Messiah = Mike Mangini.
The real Combination of : A Night To Remember + New Millenium + As I Am + This Dying Soul + some melody part of Afterlife From the 3 new releases, I choose this track as the Number One… Absolutely… They are real progressive masterclass…
Midnight Messiah = 15 letters. The last studio album Mike Mangini played on was the 15th.
Parasomnia = 10 letters. The last studio album Mike Portnoy played on was the 10th.
The 15th show of the upcoming North American tour is at the MOORE Theatre. One of Kevin Moore’s most famous compositions for Dream Theater is Space-Dye Vest, a song that features spoken word recordings, just like Midnight Messiah does.
Space-Dye Vest is generally thought of as the 11th song on Awake, but originally The Mirror and Lie would’ve been a single song, so Space-Dye Vest would’ve actually been the 10th.
This can’t all be coincidence. Midnight Messiah is about how Kevin Moore and Mike Mangini are the same person. Be honest. Have you ever seen them in the same room together? Why did Kevin Moore leave the band and sever all ties with them? He needed time to change his appearance and learn how to play drums so he could rejoin the band after Portnoy left. You didn’t believe that absurd story about him becoming a doctor, did you?
Don’t know if it was already discussed here, but reading the lyrics made me think about it. Do you guys agree, disagree, have other thoughts?
It has been discussed in the megathread, yes. However, I haven’t thought about him calling himself a messiah, lol that would be even more cringy than it already is,
Dream Theory: Midnight Messiah is The Haunting of Hill House
And Mike Portnoy is the Nell character. I can’t unlink this concept, the more I listen. All his old music with the band, his memories and soul that is someplace far away from him, like ghosts calling and haunting him. For 13 years, and he finally made it back to Hill House. It explains all of the easter egg references and the album art. Quite beautiful through that lens, but just a theory, There’s a book called The Haunting of Hill House, but the imagery of the album art stylistically matches the miniseries that became a huge hit on Netflix. Yes I get what you mean! But who is the Midnight Messiah? That’s a good question, I hadn’t figured that one out. Hopefully there will be an interview where he will say more! Midnight Messiah verse riff borrowed from Metallica?
is it just me or does the verse riff from Midnight Messiah actually seem to be a tuned down bridge riff from Metallica’s Blackened ? (not criticizing, love both songs), I dunno about blackened, but it def sounds similar to a hundred other generic chuggy metal riffs.
James singing on the verses also sounds a lot like “sad but true” or some other Metallica songs. Haha, I really enjoyed this! The grooves are fantastic, and when the solo kicks in, it’s just pure 🤘. The chorus feels a bit strange — I’m not sure how I feel about it yet, but it’s still decent overall. his is the first song since Shattered Fortress that really captures a Train of Thought vibe. While I don’t think it resembles As I Am all that much, I get the reference and can see the similarities, even though it still stands apart as its own track. It also fits with the other tracks. Honestly, I’d pick this over Night Terror as the first single any day of the week. Glad the singles after NT has been a noticable improvement and I will be going back listening to these. Reminds me of D/T where UA just wasn’t my cup of tea but the other two felt a lot more exciting.
Personally this is a big improvement from The Alien and specially IM. I’m with you on the bolded, but everything else feels like a completely separate point (that goes from MP to TA to live sets) that I really have no comment on.
I certainly wasn’t saying you shouldn’t have an opinion, just pointing out that the band is under no obligation to care (and that, for me, I prefer that they think as little about the peanut gallery as possible). Although I quoted you, my answer is more in the sense of entering the discussion in general.
The connections I made were only to illustrate that the argument could have been used extensively before, but it wasn’t. I mentioned two moments considered controversial in their recent history. The choices for live performances and the album that is considered the worst they have ever made. In neither case do I remember anyone reminding us that it was the band’s decision and it was up to us to understand that and that deep down it was our problem if we didn’t like it. Well, now that MP is back, we are reminded of this all the time. At least for me, it conveys the idea that now that the band is back to being what it should be, it doesn’t deserve to be criticized so much. Which brings us back to the beginning of the argument.
