What We Learned from Natalia Grace’s Interview

The Natalia Grace case involves a Ukrainian-born girl adopted by an Indiana couple in 2010. Initially believed to be a child, Natalia’s age became a matter of intense debate after her adoptive parents claimed she was an adult posing as a minor. They alleged she exhibited behaviors inconsistent with her supposed age and sought to have her legal age changed. The case gained attention due to the complex legal battles, questions about Natalia’s identity, and the family’s controversial claims, raising broader discussions about adoption and identity verification processes.

  1. I still think she was older than the original paperwork, but that she was still a child when she was abandoned. I also think she more than likely did the scary stuff with the original couple. She could feel in competition with the other kids, but not with animals. I'm glad her life is so different now, and she's finding her way. The Mans gave me the creeps!

  2. Natalia should have been with the DePauls the entire time. Any issues that she was adopted with were only made worse by being placed with 2 abusive families. If anything, I hope that this makes how adoptions take place are closely evaluated & major changes take place.

  3. Im not buying what Natalia is selling, the fact she is now in her 20's and still being adopted is crazy AF, this woman needs to be cut loose, her sexual promiscuous behaviour is of serious concern.

  4. This case enrages me. I actually have a co-worker with dwarfism so do have some first hand knowledge. The Barnett's for whatever reason decided they didn't want her… refused to put the effort in to bond..then in my opinion after watching the orphan movie hatched a plan or convinced themselves that was what was happening to them so shopped around for a doctor who'd reage her…. Disgusting it makes me so angry and sad for her 😢 the Barnett's came across awful in that documentary too, especially mike.
..told me everything i needed to know seeing them speak about it.. Sounds like she does have much better people around her now at least and is really moving forward with her life. I have so much empathy for her. This should never of been able to happen in first place, the system fudged her over…. 🤬

  6. The fact that the DePauls were not able to adopt her all those years ago is a damn shame. Natalia would have thrived in that family! Hopefully she can continue to grow and achieve her goals with their support and guidance. She seems off to a great start and deserves all the best things in life!

  7. It irritated me SO MUCH when Beth Karas kept inferring that it was Natalia that caused so much chaos in the Barnett home…. SHE WAS A CHILD BEING AB*SED, BETH – she was not “creating chaos in the household”. Some old school journalists need to leave the spin behind, it’s not working anymore and just makes them look disingenuous.

  8. I have the same bone disorder as Natalia does, it's hard enough to deal with that alone, I can't imagine how she's dealt with everything!!
She will most likely have to have many surgeries in her life, from my experience she's missed out on some that could have maybe helped her as a child, because of all she's gone through. I started having surgeries at the age of 5 (and still having them at 54) and my daughter started at 3 years old. She's had to do without things that really could help her, because of horrible people and circumstances 🛋 🐶

  9. My cousin and husband adopted a daughter from Russia who most likely had RAD. She was was supposedly an orphan, but later found put like Natalia, she was probably sold or whatnot and came through some nefarious dealings with probably not truthful information from adoption agencies. They were supposed to be adopting her and her brother. The daughter was about 8-10 years old and the boy was 6. I don't think the boy ever made it to the US. My cousin and her husband went to Russia for about 3 weeks to get the girl. The first few years, I think things went very well. They couldn't have children and gave her what they could. Of course they didn't know she wasn't really an orphan this whole time. My cousin and her husband really adored her and tried counseling. Our whole family accepted her as there were other adopted children in our family already. Some years ago, after this child's high school graduation, I stopped seeing pictures of her on Facebook and asked my sister about her (she's the family secret keeper). The girl turned out to be a theif, and all kinds of terrible things. She was in contact with ber biological mother and stealing and sending money to her Russian family, like an adoption catfish. My cousin basically scrubbed her from her sociy media. The girl was an adult by this time and going to university so I think they just pulled all financial support from her. She said she wanted nothing to do with them as she wasn't an orphan. It ended up being a huge mess.
