TODAY’S PASSAGE
1 Timothy 2:1-7 ESV… First of all, then, I urge that supplications, prayers, intercessions, and thanksgivings be made for all people, 2 for kings and all who are in high positions, that we may lead a peaceful and quiet life, godly and dignified in every way. 3 This is good, and it is pleasing in the sight of God our Savior, 4 who desires all people to be saved and to come to the knowledge of the truth. 5 For there is one God, and there is one mediator between God and men, the man Christ Jesus, 6 who gave himself as a ransom for all, which is the testimony given at the proper time. 7 For this I was appointed a preacher and an apostle (I am telling the truth, I am not lying), a teacher of the Gentiles in faith and truth.

STRUGGLING TO PRAY
1. A lot of believers struggle with their prayer life.
2. The Holy Spirit helps believers pray according to God’s will… Romans 8:26-27
3. The Bible sometimes tells us specifically what to pray for… Matthew 6:10; 13
4. Paul instructs timothy exactly how to pray… 1 Timothy 2:1-7

PAUL TELLS TIMOTHY EXACTLY HOW TO PRAY… FOR ALL PEOPLE
1. Paul calls Timothy to pray for all people… 1 Timothy 2:1
2. The prayer of the righteous man is powerful and effective… James 6:16
3. Paul practiced what he preached about prayer… Ephesians 1:15-16; Colossians 1:9-19
4. We are also to pray for kings and those in authority… 1 Timothy 2:1-2

CHRISTIANS ALONE HAVE THE TRUTH THE WORLD NEEDS
1. We are to pray for ideal conditions, because we alone possess the truth… 1 Timothy 2:5-7
2. After the conversion of Saul, the early church enjoyed a time of peace… Acts 9:31
3. Having favorable conditions can be potentially dangerous… Deuteronomy 8:11-14; Luke 12:48
4. If there was another way to be saved, Christians could relax in their prayers… 1 Timothy 2:5-7

2. Why should believers be praying for all people, but especially those in authority?
