  1. Legendary! Mr Horvat must have been so proud getting that phone call from Gary. Unreal. Such a funny, clever, knowledgeable, and engaging guest. I had no idea I'd enjoy this video as much as i did. Nice one, Grant!

  2. Idk why you wouldn’t put this on your main channel grant. Show Gary player some damn respect. You, a YouTube golfer, putting Gary player a 9 time major winner on your back up channel is something else

  3. Was playing at Wentworth a few years ago and we saw Gary Player talking to some of the staff on the driving range. Next thing we know he's on the tee talking to us, talk about nerves! He was meant to be 'redesigning' the East Course but spent the entire round talking to us, giving advice. Gave one guy a lesson on the tee. He made me hit another shot to get it around some trees. At the halfway house he asked what wedges we used. I mentioned my 52 degree and he asked me to show him. I'd left it on the side of the green, they'd picked it up and he'd signed it 'Ray Charles, Gary Player'. One of the best days of my life!!

  4. Can you imagine his mental toughness as a young man?
Not only the travelling and time away from his family but also, everyone would have been pulling against him. That's not to say the fans back in the 60s and 70s were the loud boorish idiots of today but still, it would have been tough to know that they want to see you come up short against their favourite.

  5. What a great moment when your Dad told him the story about you asking if he could beat Gary Player. All kids think their dads are the best at everything. I can remember asking my Dad if he could beat up Mike Tyson.

  6. Grant, as a father I will tell you there will be few things in life you will do that will make your dad prouder than that phone call. To have anyone call you to tell you how respectful and well-mannered of a person you are is something all dads hope for. Congrats and great video.
