Can Ukraine’s drone strikes and Western sanctions drain Russia’s war economy? In this video, we explore how Ukrainian forces are launching deep strikes into Russian territory—hitting key oil refineries, fuel depots, and wartime production sites. We also examine the shadow fleet that Moscow relies on to export its oil and evade global sanctions, and how new U.S. measures aim to shut it down.
Key Topics Covered:
Ukrainian Drone Strategy
Recent attacks on major refineries such as Taneco (Tatarstan) and Rosneft’s sites in Voronezh, Saratov, and Ryazan.
How destroying fuel supplies undermines Russia’s military logistics, recalling the Kremlin’s early missteps near Kyiv.
Implications for Russia’s Wartime Economy
Why oil is the backbone of Russia’s federal budget—and how sanctions plus refinery strikes cut into vital revenues.
The increased pressure on Russia’s “wartime production” capabilities as more refineries and depots go offline.
Shadow Fleet Under Fire
The 183 sanctioned tankers used for illicit oil exports, many running under “flags of convenience” with poor safety standards.
How new U.S. sanctions could slash Russia’s crude exports, raise environmental concerns, and open opportunities for Middle Eastern suppliers.
Market Reactions & Sanctions Evasion
Tactics like ship-to-ship transfers, fake shell companies, and mixing cargoes in onshore storage tanks.
Why policymakers must keep adapting to these “cat-and-mouse” evasion schemes.
Broader Geopolitical Impact
The potential for a Trump–Putin meeting and Ukraine’s plan to weaken Putin beforehand.
How Europe and the U.S. can maintain collective resolve, keep supply lines open for Ukraine, and continually tighten sanctions on Moscow.
From sabotaging Russia’s fuel supply to cracking down on shadow fleets, Ukraine and its allies aim to squeeze the Kremlin’s war machine. Will these tactics be enough to force a shift in Russia’s invasion of Ukraine—or might the Kremlin find fresh workarounds? Let us know your thoughts in the comments!
What do you think about Ukraine’s drone strikes on Russia’s refineries?
Can new sanctions truly shut down Russia’s shadow fleet, or will it adapt?

I don't know were this is going to take us all, I wonder how much pollution this war has made too date, I still believe the planet is going to kill millions of us one way or another in alsorts of ways. Just look what happening around the world and this is the start.
If the fuel refining capability is destroyed, the armored force is slowed or stopped. Tanks become bunkers and are much easier to destroy.
I list could believe that the Whites are even worst than the Blacks.
The Blacks embezzle their own gathered resources, impoverish their citizens while
The Whites wastes their resources on wars, killing their citizens and destroys their social amenities
Can someone grade these two and let people know the wise amongst the two
Whites or Blacks?
Russians will just go with less , they adore Putin and if needed will send their kids into war and die for him .
Russia attacked Ukraine, not the other way around; Russia does not deserve any concession as Putin wants to keep Ukraine's land as part of an agreement to end the war. I say absolutely not. I am praying for complete and absolute victory for Ukraine, and my prayer is that President Trump will stand with and defend UKrainains to the full extent of the military powers of the USA.
Putin will wind up destroying Russia. What a legacy he will leave behind.
1 kwh levert in alle gevallen dezelfde hoeveelheid warmte. Maar ecowarm heeft een zeer zwakke luchtstroom die derhalve niet m
genoeg warmte verspreid. Wat die straalmotor in deze reclame moet is ook pure nep. Amen.
Putin needs to be arrested.
Perhaps you think it is a minor thing, but could you PLEASE stop the stupid cartoons of drones that look like the US MQ-1 Predator/Reaper/GrayEagle lineage attacking targets in Russia? First of all, the US retired all the MQ-1s years ago, though there are bigger badder descendants. Ukraine doesn't have any of these. Even dumber is that your videos show these things operating like those drones, firing down at something and then moving on, and implicitly returning to base as a reusable surveillance/combat vehicle. None of Ukraine's long-range drones return, and most don't drop anything — they just crash into the target. Ukraine's drones don't look anything like MQ-1 lineage, aren't anywhere near as large — you actually show one of the drones Ukraine does use commonly, although it's not one capable of the deep penetration attacks.
A lot of the drones making the long-range attacks are a Ukrainian LSA (Light sport aircraft) called the Nyjnja converted to a drone. This thing looks like an old Aeronca, for any of you who know small civilian aircraft. It's not some crazy multi-million-$ uber-high-tech thing; it's something that lots of amateur/homebuilt aircraft enthusiasts look at and say: "I've built something like it, maybe better."
One of the points that is perhaps lost on readers is how simple most of these drones are, and how bad Russia is at stopping them. Of course part of that is just numbers: Ukraine often is launching more than 100 per night. if 20% hit their targets that is devastating to Russia, even 10% can be a good night if the targets are high value.
Look here for a round up of drones Ukraine is known to have/use. Note that many in this line-up are not Ukrainian-made, but that these days the large fraction Ukraine launches are Ukrainian built

And yes… this is slowly killing Russia's oil industry, PARTICULARLY refined products.
Crude oil sells at low prices on international markets; there is far more profit in refined products. One of the things that is lost on most people watching these videos is that the war in Ukraine has already done enormous damage to Russia's oil and gas "industries," much of it a result of the sanctions and loss-of-markets.
Western Europe was a rich market for Russia (both oil and natural gas): that's gone, and probably never again. India and China started buying lots of crude oil, but not refined products: they have their own refineries and were making a lot of money buying Russian oil cheaply, refining it and selling it, much more than their domestic needs. This has tightened due to stricter sanctions and declining Russian production. Russia's natural gas sales have cratered; Gazprom is bankrupt now; no pipelines and Russia doesn't have the LNG tankers nor ports.
Oil fields in Russia are being idled because there's no place for the oil to go. Idled oilfields often don't turn back on well; the longer they were idle the less productive they are. And Russia's petroleum industry was largely financed, the hard parts built and maintained, by western non-Russians. As this stuff just breaks down, or is destroyed by the Ukrainians … it's not coming back. All those western oil-service companies are gone. Collectively they wrote off billions and got out after the invasion. Even after the war is over, who wants to take the risks of investing in Putin's Russia?
And then there is the issue nobody wants to talk about: sometime soon the world will be at "peak oil," if we aren't already. The industry already knows this; it has shifted to "asset recovery" mode. This does not mean that all drilling will stop. It does mean nobody is building new refineries … already. And all new production is judged on "how fast can I get my money back out." Russia just won't rebuild most of what they are losing right now.
Putin's regime is a classic petrostate dictatorship. It's whole survival depends on high revenues from a government-controlled extractive resource, that doesn't take too many people to operate. This provides the money to support the repression; it's not cheap to run a repressive police state. It also provided the money for an aggressive conquest-oriented military … in the soviet era. But Putin's post-soviet oligarchy/kleptocracy is too corrupt to maintain military investment. His Russia has "depended" on foreign military sales for R&D … that wasn't working, this war has proved it. The Russian military hardware is crap, and Russia can't build it at necessary rates, either. Foreign sales are gone now. India is the biggest loser in this; they were Russia's biggest customer, bet on Russian technology, believed it would allow them to stay "non aligned" (that was a farce of course, they were aligned with Russia), and now they will need to pivot.
The key to everything is Russia's petrostate economy. Ukraine is killing it. Putin can afford to lose 2 million men, but he can't afford what is happening to Russia now.
The UK, Europe, Germany and the rest of the world have been too slow to transition to wind and solar energy combined with battery storage and all electric vehicles. Wind and solar energy do not need to be imported and can be produced locally in any country. Battery storage is key for base load power.
Europe needs to provide more incentives for homes and businesses to install electric heat pumps and get rid of old polluting gas and oil boilers. The move to electric vehicles will also be sped up. There is no good reason to help fund Putin's war by buying oil, gas and coal from Russia. There is a Climate Crisis making weather events more extreme. Time to switch to renewable energy. The future is renewables. They are safer, cleaner and cheaper than fossil fuels. It is time for governments to end fossil fuels industry subsidies.
Did you get putins attention?
Liers
So, Russia targeted civilian targets in Kiev several times since this idiotic war began.
Ukraine's precision drone strikes are striking at the heart of Russia's oil industry, crippling its ability to sustain the war effort. By targeting vital refineries and storage facilities, Ukraine is forcing Russia into an economic bottleneck that could turn the tide in the war. The real question now: will these strikes be enough to force a change in Russia's strategy?
Hit the pipelines…
Targeting Moscow with t is almost like they are at war with Russia…
Putin decides the Russian people don't need gas or oil for the winter. This will tuffen up the Russian people.
Good for U K they will not lay down
For Russia , the 1 problem I see is trump Putin has some hold on him so if trump will to help Russia N O. N O NO. NO WE CANNOT DO ANYTHING TO HELP Russia
I snapped my back too, before that my ass hurt and thru it all my brains cooking.
I´ve almost lost extremities.
NATO is slowly taken out russia n now North Korea with out firing a shot
Putin is like amputated his own legs..
Keep it up!
Glory to Ukraine

Very strong tactic's. No oil? No fuel! No fuel? No tanks! No revenu's!
In 1994, President Clinton forced Ukraine to give up its nuclear weapons and all the airplanes, capable to deliver a nuclear bombs to Russia.
In exchange, the USA, Great Britain, and Russia signed a Budapest Memorandum and gave assurances to DEFEND Ukraine in case of aggression.
** Now Great Britain and USA are obligated to put boots on the ground, defend Ukraine, and fight Russian aggression.
💙🇺🇸 Go Ukraine!!!🎉
Ohhh really? For real?😂😂😂😂
Should be worried could lead to nuclear war. Who will Russia blame for it besides ukraine.
The Ukrainian special operation is getting professional.
I hope this is true. Long live Ukraine.
Immer diese Trümmerteile 😂🎉🎉
The British are not the wcranians
Who said these are Ukrainian drones? Eyewitnesses unanimously claim that Iranian Shaheds were seen. It’s not even clear what’s more disgusting – the fact that the bald geostrategist is again destroying his oil refineries or the fact that he’s doing this for another handout from his North Korean puppet masters.
Excellent
Get em ukraine ! Puck Futin
3 Trankers when down in the black sea
Good job, carry on!
