Some U.S. Navy warships are getting another option to counter unmanned aircraft systems, or drones, and it didn’t cost taxpayers tens of millions of dollars or take a decade to develop. In fact, the USS Indianapolis received the upgrade while deployed to the Red Sea area of operations last fall. The Navy said it upgraded the hardware and software on the Freedom-class Littoral Combat Ship’s surface-to-surface missile module (SSMM).

It's a shame the LCS was such a waste of money, but I hope this upgrade makes it much more utilizable.

Why waste time and money? They are not allowed to go into battle. They are not allowed to go at battle speed. The Australian owned ship builder screwed America just like the Italian owned FEMM is doing to us now with frigate. A top admiral decided peer vs peer would never happen. He had four shipyards closed. That's why our subs and other ships are so far behind on repairs. It is probably too late, but we need to build back our ship building instead of foreign builders that screw us, and general dynamic boats, and Huntington-Ingals.

These ships en toto are in fact the ultimate in a "loitering munition" so yes trying to defend that no small matter…but are perfect for working in the confined areas of the Baltic and Black Seas and elsewhere to find out😊😊
A gigantic minigun that fires shotgun shells would also work very well.
Good step, but this is still far too expensive. The Hellfire costs about $150k/missile and the Longbow variant is about the same. That is tough against a $500-$1000 drone.
