Good morning Pam I'm so glad to see this I've berm waiting excitedly!❤
I have bought the trendy (aka expensive)zinnia seeds and they never do too well. My daughter bought a pack of seeds from $ Tree, and they were way better than mine.
Hi Pam, I have to tell you that I have stratified seeds as fast as overnite or 24 hours in the fridge. I think poppies, larkspur and foxglove. I love those pink geraniums, no wonder you are propagating it! I think that I grew Alyssa and several seeds drop the dollar stores. I agree about quality. Unless you are a floral farmer, why do you need 200 seeds?
how are the rose cuttings doing ?
I had such beautiful results last summer from dollar tree gladiola bulbs. I planted them all in a large pot (that I bought from DT for $1.25) on my patio with zero expectation. I was shocked at how gorgeous and strong they were. I did have to stake and wrap with easy simple string support. They performed better than everything else. I had one of every color! ❤❤❤
Does using a heat mat make any kind of a difference – other than germination speed – as far as strength of the plant goes? e.g. coping with temperature changes? Are there any other pros for using a heat mat. I've never used them. I have two Sunflowers that came up in the Petunias I brought in from outside. Should be interesting to see what happens. The comment about quality vs. quantity is completely true. I don't need to purchase 500 seeds of something if less than 1/2 are going to germinate. Besides, If 15 of something suffices my needs, why would I need 250 or more. If you buy a small quantity of a seed and it's a "Yes" for you, then you can always purchase more. Your greenhouse just gave me an idea for extra shelving. This year I am changing and going with Potting Soil instead of seed starting mix. Love your channel.
💚
Hi Pam
I use Jumbo craft stick all the time. Yes, they will become affected by watering soften and break, but I've never in 30 years had that harm my plants. I love them and find many other uses for them. You do things a lot like I do. I'm glad to find your channel.
Aww your new geranium is so sweet and pretty .
I’m glad you made this video, Pam. I get a mixed array of comments. Most of my viewers say dollar tree seeds are great while an occasional comment says they never germinated for them and there was hardly any seeds in the pack. I opened up some packs yesterday and I found that to be wrong. This is a good video for people to see.! 👍👍👍 Liz
I was surprised that the seeds I bought at the dollar and a quarter store. They are non gmo! Will see how it goes for my first growing adventure in Washington state.
I'm excited and ready to get started with my garden-I really miss having a garden
You will fall in love with Sweet William , if you haven’t grown before. They are biennials, usually blooming the second year and then, they reliably reseed themselves forever. 🌸🌸🌸🌸🌸They are the best cut flower. Thank you for the mention! 💕
hi pam, thanks for the video. i love getting seeds from dollor tree i'm gathering me some up now. waiting for spring to get here. thanks for sharing with us.
100% on the seed starting mix. Happy to catch your follow up.. I bought a few packs since your last video. Wish me luck!
Yes to slow gardening! We are in it for the long haul , here in the UK most people wouldn't seed start til March because of the low light levels as well as the cold temperature. A serious vegetable grower would plant garlic around the Winter Solstice and start onion seeds on Boxing day. (Maybe start chilli peppers in January but only if you have a heat mat and grow lights.) It' s fun to see what other people are doing around the world, but I have to not start anything as I don't have a greenhouse or polytunnel to put seedlings in. One year I forgot to pour boiling water over my potting mix and suffered with fungus gnats in my tomato plants. Which were residing on the kitchen table and thus putting off everyone from eating there! 😂 There are plenty of seed to harvest videos out there on YT for those with short attention spans. You do you , I like your chatty plant talk it's like hanging out with a garden friend.
Great ideas for making tags. I will now use my sour cream container. 🎉🪴
I just wish that American seed company was not owned by Monsanto 😔
Mini blind slats are good. The sun can fade the sharpie letters but they are usually ok for one season. I know a guy who has a printing shop who uses and then recycles aluminum sheets that have one side with a white plating and these can be written on with an ordinary pencil. They will be readable for years. If you have print shops in your area they will probably give or sell you a few of these cheap. I use a scissors to cut strips to whatever size I need.
Love the video Pam and I will always buy American Seed Company seeds when I`m in the States. I make it a priority. Happy Planting!!!
Ty
I get things to sift soil at goodwill, really cheap and it makes me happy to recycle.
Has anyone tried the box of seeds at Dollar Tree. I have some zinnia and wild flower that I didn't get planted last year. Going to try them this year.
I have grown a lot of the Dollar Tree vegetable seeds, I haven't tried the flowers yet.
I got some seed packs last spring for 10cents each pack, when they were clearing out the garden stuff for the season.
I am sowing some of those now, I am happy with the growth.
They don't have a lot of variety of tomatoes, but I am happy with the basics.
Good video!!
2025- planted 6 corn seeds. All popped up in four days. Heat mat, sunny window. Dollar tree.😊
I like your comments and attitudes for gardening. You go girl!
Your video is on google under " are dollar tree seeds good?"
I bought a beefsteak seed from dollar tree & pictures showed large red beefsteak tomatoes. But it grew tiny tomatoes, large tomatoes , yellow tomatoes & medium sized tomatoes. Mostly cherry tomatoes. I was very disappointed. I grew 5 plants & 3 had cherry tomatoes & 1 beefsteak & 1 yellow. These were all in the same packet. I'm not buying from dollar tree since I don't trust the quality anymore. Maybe I was just not lucky
The same seeds are sold at walmart. Same company. I live in zone 10 a, never had a problem with them. Happy gardening.
I just joined your page I really enjoyed and appreciated your video
❤
Excellent video. Loved the quality confirmation 👍👍👍 always enjoy examining your greenhouse background 😄 a gardener’s eye candy
Gardening is teaching patience ❤
Well when my zinnias don't come out the green I was expecting I will know know why! Low AZ desert
I just discovered your show this year. I am an avid flower gardener and used to do a big vegetable garden. I’ve always gotten some Dollar tree seeds but since you last show, I went and loaded up on them. You’re very informative and I very much appreciate you.
Thanks for the update! I have had luck with them as well. You can’t beat the price!
Thank you .I love your videos ❤
I have had great success with $Tree seeds. I have also purchased them for .10 cents at the end of the season. I really enjoy your channel,Pam. Keep it up for the ones who appreciate you!💚🪴
Also, do you have a specific video on flowers that bloom in winter ( other than pansies and violas🤣). I’d love to keep flowers growing all year long Thx!
THANK YOU for such a wonderful video ! You are a natural teacher . Just found your channel & love it & you already . I am almost 76 & still an avid gardener , 1/2 of our 3 acres has been edged with flower & herb beds that I hand dug myself years ago ! But Hubby has me beat @ ~almost 83 he is known in the neighbor affectionately as Farmer Fisher , because years ago we had one of the classes of 2nd graders from out local grade school come over for a tour of his garden , our many fruit trees , berry bushes . He has a huge garden that he lovely cultivates every year ~ keeps him young !!! They loved it , we let them pick strawberries , lettuce , etc. One of the children said , " I thought lettuce grew in Food Lion !🥰
Big blessings & thank you's from central Virginia .
Black Seeded Simpson lettuce, to me, is the the perfect lettuce for sandwiches. Like if you were to take a picture, thats what you want your lettuce to look like. It's my favorite lettuce too.
Nice to find your channel! Thanks for the coco core info. I’ve never had issue with their seeds. I have had issues with ones I’ve bought at Walmart & Royal King being a lack of seeds & colors not labeled correctly. The only negative on Dollar Tree seeds is variety but the cosmos grew 7’ tall in rich soil 💚
Thank you for another great video. What was you saying about nematode problem please ?
