Story #3: Look, coworker, I get that what you're doing may well be considered basic politeness in the South–having lived in the Carolinas for about four years, it's definitely more common there, and in some parts of the South it might even be expected–but it's clear that's not working here, and you have to adjust to that. It may not always be the easiest thing to read the room (again, speaking from personal experience), but if people are responding to your small talk with one-word responses, that's often a sign they want to be left alone, and you should do that. Because failing to respect their wishes like that is itself rude. Also, pet names like that, while common in the South, come off very differently in some other parts of the country, either as condescending, or even as attempting to come on to them. Failing to recognize that and continuing to use such names when they've proven to be unwanted is, once again, rude. So basically, coworker, you have to choose between engaging with what you see as "rude" behavior (but really isn't rude behavior, at least not here), or continue with your current behavior that is actually rude.

    So I was one day in trouble for joking like im gonna dox you but I still said it was a joke so let me explain what happened so I was talking to McKenna and said that joke and I was sent to the principal and she called the police on me for that joke and I said that she found out where I live but she said I don’t care she’s sexiest but she also found out I was friends with Riley and got him in trouble because I’m friends with him and I explained multiple times to her that I didn’t tell her where I live but she was looking and asked everyone and audery told her now I don’t know what to do am I in the wrong

  26. Last story: op is definitely a people pleaser (I am too) and needs to take a step back from her family, because they are taking advantage of that. She needs to set boundaries and hopefully she'll see a big improvement on her mental health when she does
