"Legacy"….got me from the first few words. Let's go!
Brilliant guest.
To secure the future we need to solve one major problem: How do we keep bad people from positions of power, in government and in private institutions.
What an inspiring episode! Really a good guest!
This….Thanks Rich, amazing work you do.
I truly think the answer to all this to fall in love with yourself completely. One realizes then that nothing else is needed and once you do completely you realize its always been the divine. Only then will your gaze become all encompassing. Nature takes care of past, present and future by intelligent design. And yo Rich, 20 year devotee of Yogananda- that dude isnt antiquated 😉
More of these conversations please! I'm so thankful others are thinking along the same lines and have more education and background to study, articulate, and share these perspectives. I have been thinking of getting into the mental health field to assist those who are willing to mature emotionally, but maybe that isn't the best way to go about it. Food for thought. I will be reading his book and following up with Ari. Thank you both!
This is a great conversation and the stories are really interesting, but this is literally just longview thinking. And yes, we all need to take the longview. He just switched "view" for "path" and is talking like he made up this concept.
It seems like the fear of death will increase proportionally to how long the term of life is extended. I mean, wouldn't it be so much more consequential to face death at 300 years old than at 100 years old? My point is that unless the fear of death is overcome, extending our lifespan has no endgame.
I loved a lot of things on this video.
What is the goal in a human life.
For me it is just have fun every day. It should be that but because of different kind of system we are running a lot to make money for others.
Beauty , you need to stay beauty all your life. No life is life if you take age you have to accept that.
New tech, you have to use new tech because it's something new and fun. No it is fun for people whose control it but not for others who are controled by new tech.
Collect money, why it is a purpose if it's to damage nature and humanity.
I could carry on like that for a while.
Degrees why we say to young people it is important to get degrees if at the end of their school there is no investment in the sector they have chosen.
Ari is right, why are we on earth if it is to take advantage of others every single minute.
If you want to live 150 years just to submit others it is not a good aim if it is to live an happy correlation with others at this point alright.
Often and I guess a lot of people think that we are held by idealistic ideas of powerful people.
I can't wait to see what he's filming. I miss Bourdain so much. More smart series please!
Would Ari agree that vegan and animal activism is ripe for the the Longpath Midset?
Excellent.
Love these podcasts, please don't ever stop doing what you are doing!
When I hear that a goal is to move beyond having all of these difficult experiences is sad. That is what makes us human. To be able to come to a place in ourselves as we evolve emotionally is what helps us through pain and worry. Discovering a better way to exist as a human with all of these emotions is the way to living in a better state of being without having to become an "AI" so to speak.
Wow. This was so thought provoking. I am so engaged. Such intelligence. I am so grateful for this kind of podcasting.
Fascinating conversation but for those without kids and never met their grandparents, we may focus on different futures that may involve other species and their environments.
I feel if we give more energy to stop wars; will be an excellent legacy.
The title being a spoof on black lives matter is lowkey subtle racism, Rich
A year ago, I reached the age where I'm eligible and capable of retirement. Over the past year, many people question why I'm continuing to work and when I'm planning to retire. After much thought, I've concluded that I will never retire. I look upon people like Charlie Munger, Warren Buffet and Bill Gates and why they haven't "retired." In the end, I decided that we've inherited tremendous gifts and advances in virtually all aspects of life, from life expectancy to overall knowledge as written about by folks like Steven Pinker. What kind of POS would I be to then take all these gifts and decide I'm going on vacation for the next 40 or more years and not contribute to my children and future generations. It is quite serendipitous that this video came up on my Rich Roll subscription. I look forward to reading this book.
Again Rich you are a fascinating interviewer and your guests value the space/questions/keen awareness that you offer them. Thank you for this remarkable podcast.
I finished reading Regeneration by Paul Hawken yesterday. It is extremely sensitive to the myriad topics and issues of today. For me, it was like taking a college course on life and what we want to see our future (for generations to come) look like. There is a chapter on everything you can imagine from regenerating land, to the food agriculture, to clothing manufacturing which incidentally uses a lot of water, chemicals and fuel to ship products. Much of our consumeristic habits are about buying and throwing out what is not needed or goes out of "style" and piles of it goes in landfills. Let's keep listening to these people but not only that, each day think about how you contribute to things getting better or worse.
This guy is zzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzz
Nice content
This season has been really great, I've been making massive profits on my crypto investment, all thanks to Expert Arjun B Jagat.
Ha Ha during my morning workout today I started listening to David Goggins (as usual) then switched over to listen to Rich and Eli. Then I realized that I was listening to exactly the same message from 2 guys who could not be more different and be so much alike at the same time. Good grief a Jewish Goggins how perfect is that.
I meant to ask. What was Eli referring to by the term "Telo" or "Telos". If I messed up I will listen for it again. This is likely going to be the 1st podcast that I listen to twice.
Great podcast as always Rich!
Truth and reconciliation is so needed! As a therapist I meet many people who are often traumatised from their parents trauma … passed through generations … but recognising and trying to make sense of it can help some! 🙌🏼🌱
In Wales they have a future generations commissioner, all policies must go via them I think. Sounds interesting.
I see Longpath becoming a common term in our vocabulary and interactions. Profound!
Short termism is surely killing our society. It’s unsettling to know that the new device I just bought will be obsolete in two to three years. It projects me in the fact that I’ll soon need to get a new one. Nowadays everything man builds doesn’t last long which I’m sure reflects on how we behave. It’s kind of scary cause it’s as if we couldn’t rely on anything anymore. This podcast gives hope and horizon. Kind of like when you’re looking at the infinity of stars in the sky. I hope this conversation has a strong and powerful ripple effect. Thank you for this 🙏
This is truly incredible, but man, I can't even drive out of West Oakland to Lafayette every day without encountering countless drivers doing 70 in 25mph streets and, even higher speeds, and more reckless maneuvers on the freeway. As much as I hope for evolution, I doubt we're heading in that direction.
Neoliberalism—prioritizing free markets above all else, privatizing, consolidating, union-busting, warmongering, and furthering the atomization of humanity under the banner of "individualism"—is the cause of all of humanity's problems. Left-wing politicians or right-wing….they are all neoliberals, interested only in maximizing profit throughout the world, uninterested in human welfare, willing to sell out any value that gets them elected, while young people become more and more enamored with the idea of the "millionaire entrepreneur," tuning out more and more from society while public education itself is privatized, devalued, dismantled….
Profit is what's killing us. There is no thought-way out
Wonderful interview. Children have been HIGHLY undervalued in our society in this country. Raising and taking care of children would have such a large impact. My opinion of course.
