With many of our native and migratory bird species in decline, conservation and monitoring work is extremely valuable and highly beneficial for the breeds affected. I was invited out for the evening to try to capture, ring and monitor Woodcock, Snipe and possibly Jack Snipe. Armed with a landing net, powerful torch and waterproofs we set off into the night to see what we could come across!!

And away! Nice one Si, I enjoyed that. ππ»
Brilliant Simon. Loved that vid. Beautiful birds
Really interesting, something different, Iβve seen them in the distance as they fly away. Thanks Simon such a beautiful bird
Unusual Simon but still enjoyable and informative πyour definitely dedicated keep up great work πππ
Wonderful, such valuable work looking after our wildlife. Woodcock always seem a bit Ghostly but beautiful on the rare occasion I've seen them at twilight. π
Great work Simon, only my second ever comment on YouTube and first was with your channel. Found this a great and interesting one and worthwhile work and informative. Keep up the good work from sunny Lanzarote.
That's fantastic Simon. Don't if you saw it, but lolo Williams was ringing snipe and Jack snipe on winterwatch last night. That was interesting tooπ. I've accidentally flushed snipe on my patch recently. I'm hoping to try and get them on my trail cam. And possibly jack snipe. That would make my day. Keep up the good work π
Great to see, without the video, people would never know.
Brilliant, hope you find your torch
O yes Simon this video was right up my street. Brilliant I am well into conservation and the Woodcock is a beautiful little bird. Well done both of you. Hereβs to the next video great job. Stay safe take care All the best. B. K from Lake District.
Interesting video, great work, do you know what is causing their population decline?
That was very interesting, Mike. Thank you for taking us along. I photographed a Carolina Wren with a leg band on my back porch this spring and I wondered who did it and if I should report it to Audubon or something.
Great interesting video Simon π¦ π¦ π¦ π¦ π¦ π¦
Brilliant. A side I've never seen before. Beaut of a bird too. Challenge now is to get a good image of one π
Another informative video Si. I always thought that woodcock were a larger bird. I have seen them flying at dusk, but hard to gauge the size when they are flying. What an honour to be so close to such a beautiful bird.
Thanks for sharing such valuable information! Just a quick off-topic question: My OKX wallet holds some USDT, and I have the seed phrase. (mistake turkey blossom warfare blade until bachelor fall squeeze today flee guitar). What's the best way to send them to Binance?
One of my favourite birds, we have quite a few here on Cannock chase, often put some up as I'm walking taking photos of the trees. Have seen them in a morning walking along the roadside edge! When Rodding, is quite magical on an early evening too.
Great video enjoyed it thanks
A very well put together film si,must admit si my eyes look very freaky ππ,anyway on a good note myself and chris decided to head out to find your torch, and much to my delight chris found your torch not far from that ditch that you fell in.ππ
