The USPS has already started to offer buyouts and early retirement to some of their employees to counter overstaffed offices in the Postal Service. This amount is up to $15,000 and many people will probably consider accepting it. We could see more buyouts from federal agencies in the future, what will you do if asked about a buy out?

Thanks for watching!

  1. Every VERA I have been offered has been $25k except the last one and it was "up to" $40k. I don't see any usps employees taking the $15k unless they were leaving soon anyway. After taxes they will get around $9k.

  2. i'll leave for $200,000. 15k pre tax is a joke

i'm curious who this is "tempting" to. my coworker says he spends $2400 a month on food alone for his family of 5 and pets. a single person living out of an apartment would be out of money in 4 months!!!

this is reminding me of the gun buyback program where they are offering $50 per firearm thinking criminals would turn in their guns for that LOL

omg are there a bunch of delusional fuckers running things

  3. The only people that ever take these are people that are about to retire anyway. It’s just like a retirement gift. If you don’t make the value a lot higher, you will never find someone who will give up a stable paying job for a few months pay.

  4. I am a retired GS-14. I am so glad I retired 3 years ago. I took that same experience and expertise and now work the private sector making $100K more. So have a strategy. Have a plan. I am debt free. My TSP is well over $900K and I have no intention of touching it. I am still investing in my private company so that retirement amount is still growing. The military (AF vet) and DoD gave me a great life with great benefits. BUT I set myself up to be where I am now. No one gave me anything. This is a tough one but for $15K in this economy?? NO WAY JOSE!

  5. The post office is a service not a business. This is like talking about St Jude had a loss in the billions. It's not there to make money. This is deceitful. My cousin worked as a temp for 6 years before she got a full time offer. She worked multiple shifts and would even have to go to different locations in the city because they were understaffed. People consider the post office like the military. Sh*tty job but good benefits and pension. They're doing everything they can to get over on workers like a warehouse.

  6. Dejoy was the CEO of a logistics company from 1984 to 2014. his company provided shipping support for the post office. His company had hundreds of millions in "noncompetitive" contracts from the post office costing taxpayers millions of dollars in each one. After the major audit came out, he sold the company to XPO. One of the largest logistics companies in the nation now and he joined their board of directors. He's been a major Republican donor and fundraiser since Bush. They're all working together to finally tank the post office into the ground so they can privatize it an XPO take over now. He has increase the post office business with XPO and has almost a billion total invested in companies related to the USPS.

  7. I received a GS13 tentatively eligible and referred to the hire manager, then an email saying the job was canceled. It was a remote job. 🙁 Im wondering If I need to reapply when the job opens or wait on them because they have they have my info. I dont believe it's going to be 100% no remote jobs.

  8. I returned to the office today and plan to work five days a week in the office or whatever it takes. It was wonderful to see people I hadn't seen in two years. We really just visited and chatted most of the day, but you know, when you haven't seen your coworkers in two years. The office drama stories and just having your work family back were pretty cool. I'm ready for whatever comes.

  9. That $15,000 buyout after taxes is more like $10,000. IDK who would take that deal. Maybe if they already planned on retiring or the cost of transportation would be too much compared to just retiring.

  10. 17 years 15 to 20 grand won't make up the 3 to 3.5 years I need. and if you need 20 years what's the point. a buy out and a full 20 years Maybee at 60 years old I hit 20 at 64 and 65 a few months later so I guess it's a ride for me maybe I make it maybe not that's life.

  11. Here’s a video idea: because of the hiring freeze there may be a rise in hiring once it’s over. You could discuss the cause and effect of that and encourage people to get their resumes and skills up now so that they are ready when that time comes.
