On a bright morning, the orange cat Milo stretched and climbed out of his comfortable cat bed. Milo is a typical orange cat, and his chubby body makes people want to rub it. However, Milo has been a little troubled recently – he heard that the slimming expert dog Luke next door always laughed at him for being “fat as a walking pumpkin.”
In order to prove that he is not fat, Milo decided to weigh himself secretly. He took out the idle scale from the locker and placed it on the floor of the living room. For the sense of ritual, he also deliberately changed into his favorite blue and white plaid apron. This apron was the “battle suit” that Milo wore when doing cat food experiments, which had an inexplicable sense of ritual.
However, when Milo stepped on the scale tremblingly, something unexpected happened – “Click!” With a loud noise, the glass of the scale suddenly cracked! Milo widened his eyes, looked down at the disaster scene under his feet, and was at a loss for a while.
“Am I, am I that heavy?” Milo muttered to himself, his facial expression changing from doubt to surprise to annoyance. The glass fragments around him reflected the sunlight, like a merciless mockery. He couldn’t help but recall his life these days: the canned food he secretly ate at midnight, the catnip cake at a friend’s party, and the whole bag of dried fish snacks he swallowed that night…
Just as Milo was immersed in his “weight crisis”, the door of the living room was pushed open, and Milo’s good friend, the hamster Lime, poked his head out. “Hey, Milo, what’s wrong with you?” Lime asked in his thin voice.
Milo lowered his head and sighed, “I may be too fat. I even broke the scale.”
Lime looked at the scale, then at Milo, thought for a while and said, “Maybe it’s not your problem. Maybe the scale is out of repair! You are the best cat at baking in the family, how can you doubt yourself because of these little things?”
Milo listened and moved his ears, as if he felt that there was some truth, but he couldn’t help muttering, “But…but Luke said I look like a walking pumpkin.”
Lime chuckled, “Pumpkins are also attractive! Besides, who would refuse a cute orange cat who can make cakes?”
Hearing this, Milo finally smiled a little. He cleaned up the glass fragments and decided not to care about Luke who always boasted about his “well-developed muscles”. After all, his goal is not to lose weight, but to let more friends eat the cat food desserts he made with his heart!
“Okay, I have to hurry to prepare my new menu.” Milo said, then walked into the kitchen shaking his chubby tail.
The sun shines in the living room, and the broken pieces of the scale are swept aside, as if symbolizing that Milo has overcome a “psychological crisis”. From that day on, Milo no longer worries about his weight, but focuses more on his baking business. Later, his blue and white plaid apron became a symbol of the town, and whenever Milo wears it, all the little animals look forward to his latest work.
Milo finally understood: fat or thin is not important, happiness and confidence are the best “scale”.
