Merlin's experience with the fold was somewhat confusing to understand, but as far as i can tell, it said that the fold is somewhat conscious which we kinda knew, but also like it becomes that way when it tearrors with light. To me and because it's described as being there but not, this seems like that the fold represents nothing, light everything, and the combination of the 2 something, as something could maybe be argued to be between those 2. And the riding of the fold i guess is like using that intent of the fold to connect with light, to then move in it, because those threads might be a unified force to go toward light maybe? So when artifice goes through dark mica maybe its exploiting the intent of the fold to hunt light to traverse, and then the foldlight changes the dark mica because the fold is changed by the light itself, being modelled in a different way along with it? Idk, but either way this is fascinating story telling! Makes me wonder if life in midst originated by combination of tearrors, as if at some point the un and the fold appeared in contact suddenly shaping everything with tearrors.
Well, im afraid i'll become a broken record at this point since this is always what i yell at the stars and beyond when an episode ends but… SAY WHAT?!

I was absolutely losing it this whole episode
Dang the atmospheric storytelling in this episode was SOOO good it had me on the edge of my seat. I honeslty felt panic on how they were going to get the spare fold light in. And that last reveal! I cant wait to see what happens next. I wonder if now they are going to try to stage another expedition? Probably too terrifying to say.
So, wait. Have the Bocular Man and Merlin swapped bodies, or is the former self-aware and the later diminished in mental faculties?
