  1. I have great News…My wife and I cannot take the free cruise I won on the Celebrity Edge..So their Blue Chip Club Just allowed us to receive a $300 On board Credit, They stated that is not normally what we do, we usually don't offer anything if you can't take the cruise…But I brought up one point…The rules of winning a free cruise and it's restrictions are not posted anywhere…you don't know of the restrictions until you win the cruise.
so Good Job Celebrity in giving me the OBC.

  2. We have been offered upgrades on Carnival a couple of times. Years ago they called and asked. This year we were offered by email to upgrade to a suite for $300. It was awesome. We were spoiled. Will be hard to be on floor 2 on the Freedom in Sept.LOL

  3. NCL also has the bidding process. I used it and upgraded to a balcony on a 12 day for $200. Also my 3 post covid cruises on Carnival all received an up grade from an interior to either an ocean view or balcony. My first MSC cruising next month offered a bidding upgrade for their yacht club premium suits.

  4. I'm glad to see this opportunity on Princess as I'm sailing on the Discovery Princess in October. It sounds like it will work a lot like NCL's program that I used back last year. (I liked their program but ironically had I not used it I wouldn't have had my conflict with NCL, and I ended up regretting my decision after the fact.)

  5. We and our travel companions were both given upgrades from ocean view to deck 10 balconies on Mardi Gras. Never realized it until we checked in for the cruise. It was awesome. Made it super special for new cruisers that went with us-now we’re all spoiled with balcony cabins!

  6. We booked a balcony cabin on carnival vista last April and then 2 months before the cruise carnival sent me an email and said if I wanted to upgrade my balcony to a grand suite for $800 more so we said definitely yes, then a few weeks before the cruise I went and checked out how much the greens suites were going for and they were $5000 for the 7 day cruise and we paid $1900 plus the $800 for the upgrade so we scored big time

  7. We were offered a couple upgrades by the upgrade fairy through Carnival – all have been interiors to balconies. We took one offer as we couldn't pass up the price. The other offers we passed on as the upgrade prices were much higher.

  8. Derek, we have cruised Carnival 13 times and only gotten an upgrade call once. It was the only time I booked thru Carnival forget n the phone. All of our other times we booked thru a travel agent and have never gotten an upgrade. We did take it. It was from a balcony to a larger balcony room.
I wish Carnival would do what Royal does and put it out to bid. In the future I would do it for Alaska or the Panama Canal. Otherwise I may or may not. It would depend on the up charge per passenger. We have stayed in a port hole room once and then 12 balconies. I would like to stay in a suite once or an aft balcony once.

  9. I think upgrades should be a free perk. Excitement paying more money? NO TY!Some people don’t understand “upgrade” as to what that means. Should do a show on upgrades to explain that. I have no desire to partake but sure many will. Not for this family.

  10. About 6 days ago I called Carnival Radiance and just asked "hey is there any upgrades or promotions I missed" they said yes they gave me a second room and $200 ship credits. So just ask you never know

  11. We get offered upgrades but typically only when we book porthole cabin or some of the other more sought after interior types. We will be on Jubilee for the NYE sailing next year, will be our first time out of Galveston unless we book another sailing for next fall from there, 22 days until Horizon, then freedom on 11/12, RC Mariner 11/17. Then Celebration on 12/11 and we are doing the ABC sailing on horizon next April! 😁😁😁

  12. I would rather get a free upgrade. Yes we did get a call once for an upgrade to a small suite and we took it. It wasn't free but it was much less than if we got a suite to begin with. Not a big fan of RC. We have tried them twice and still like Carnival better.

  13. Okay I know it's a jerk move to say I'm platinum but because I am I get a lot of offers for upgrades with Carnival. Sometimes it's a good deal other times it is not. I like the way they do it since it kind of works out as a loyalty program benefit.

  15. We were really interested in your report on the Jubilee. We are booked on the 18 day Transatlantic crossing brining the Jubilee toGalveston for your cruise. Don't worry we will leave some food and drinks for you. BTW, read my posting of yesterdays video where I tell you about going on the 23 day Transpacific cruise on the Splendor in 18 more days with masks if we must.

  16. On Carnival, it is easier for the company to sell the lesser priced rooms, so that is way they want to upgrade those people and move them to rooms that don't book as well. Then they can fill their ship. On Princess They sell the suites and balconys

  17. We got a call from Carnival to upgrade our friends and our cabin from inside to connecting balcony room for 500 per cabin for 12 day cruise to Iceland on the Pride back in July!
