I have a question. Why do people still use the term West Indies? I'm from PR; made a friend from India and she told me that term (context: cricket team). I was surprised cuz I thought that term was outdated. I do not speak English daily.
Why was Guyana not mentioned, yet Suriname and French Guiana were? They’re also part of the Caribbean and CARICOM, and speak English like most of the Caribbean.
Thank you for making the difference between French St Martin and Dutch St Maarten!! A lot of people then go over look/forget completely about it 🙁 -Kie
I remember as a kid going to that dutch/french split island for a family vacation and we arrived on the dutch side where nude beaches were illegal then we drive to the french side where they were legal.
I love these videos. Great job breaking it down into small pieces. Too bad most Americans don’t travel , don’t get past 9th grade and think only about themselves and only themselves.
Unlike the Dutch islands that are part of the Netherlands and the French islands that are part of France, the US and UK islands are NOT part of their respective countries.
Puerto Rico is not part of the US, it is considered under international law as a dependency of the US, the same goes with Anguilla, Montserrat, Turks and Caicos etc being totally separate entities to the UK but the UK has foreign representation and ‘final word’ over their sovereignty.
If you are in Curaçao you are in the (Kingdom of the ) Netherlands, if you are in the US Virgin Islands you are not in the US itself.
France and the Netherlands are neighbors in Europe!
None of them speak their native language(s)?
I’ve seen Belize be considered a Caribbean country by some. Wonder what your take is on the matter. Thanks
Bro, you're missing ISLANDS 😤😤😤😡
