  2. Appreciate your coverage on AC Shadows. There's a lot of reviewers I watch and respect but their outlook on Shadows has mostly just been comparing it to Ghost of Tsushima, which feels like they are setting themselves up to be disappointed. I appreciate you treating the game as its own thing and being open minded about it, while remaining critical and fair. Love your content, can't wait to see what you cook up for us in 2025!

  3. Looking forward to your thoughts. I always check out what you have to say with the games that we cross in. I have trusted your opinion fir YEARS brother. I wish we seemed to cross more but I am always overjoyed when we do 🙂

  4. I think, and this based on another video that talked about Ubisoft and stealth in games, that Ubisoft has to make stealth goods and not in a “plenty of choice” type bs I mean stealth should be what it’s all about. With two character with different focuses I hope for the ninja one she is not as good at open fighting as she is on stealth.

Idk the way he said it, making stealth be the optimal thing you have to work with makes it more fun, to me at least.

  5. Im glad Ubisoft are in this position honestly. The game actually has to be good not financially successful. Otherwise they are done and selling to Tencent (which means nost of the IP gets sold off)

Either Shadows is a 9/10 or its the last bad Ubi game we ever get. Win win

  6. I still hold on to the memories of AC and what Ubisoft was willing to do back then. But, given the past 10 years of this company's history, not only am I over the AC franchise which just doesn't make what I wanted AC to grow into, Ubisoft itself is horribly mismanaged and is creatively bankrupt given most of their games are either cash grabs or reskins of the same 2 or 3 games over and over again. If you find something you like in modern AC or Ubisoft games, I don't understand it, but that's awesome that you have something you love. I have just become tired of Ubi bastardizing the AC franchise to dilute it to its common denominator and serve it for the masses instead of being fine with making a game for some people.

  7. This games keeps looking better and better the seaosn change mechanic may just work the same way to the day and night cycle did in Origins, the same with the Calligraphy/painting with Origins Constellation quest line but Naoe's meditation segments seem to be a better companion, as we're supposed to get more background information on her similar to how the constellation gave us Bayek bonding with Khemu.

In the case of Yasuke I imagine his Kata forms may give us some background on his training to become a Samurai/see that jump from Retainer to Samurai this all sounds very interesting.

The world design/map looks gorgeous and the fact allies are back like in AC3 I'm stoked for this is taking elements from Origins, AC3 and hopefully Unity in its Blackbox missions all 3 are my favourite games of the franchise and AC Shadows could soon join the list.

  8. Sad that Ubisoft literally has to get forced to make a good game instead of doing it because its what they should do and they'll probably still fail.

Years of mediocrity finally caught up to them. I knew they were desperate when i saw they chose to do Japan. For years they used to tell us that they wouldn't do Japan because it was "too expected"

  9. 25:17 Yasuke is the first AC protagonist ever that was a real person. Everybody else was created from scratch by Ubisoft. If Yasuke was just a side character that Naoe interacted with i dont think anyone would be complaining as much as they do now.

  10. some grift is legit. ppl that say that their land and history is misrepresented have a right to complain. the one german japanese guy had a convincing argument that the historical source of the established lore in ac shadows was taken from a wikipedia page that sourced to a fictional book that is being sold as accurate evidence based history. its just embarrassing, it would be a lot better if they created 1 to 1 same character with different name and didnt try to sell it with "haha fun fact some sort of this existed". let ppl have their reasonable frustration, a multimillion unhinged company`s successes and failures arent of ur business just as much as a "monolith" of grifters trying to get some bread.

  11. No? Not all people hate the fact that the male protag is african just to hate it. Some people just like to voice their opinion and nothing is wrong with that. Just like it isn't wrong for the people who like it to voice theirs. I think theres a stark middle ground here that just places people who don't agree with it in a bad category.

  12. Great video and I agree with most of what you’re saying! Concerning the grifters, I think we «in the know» tend to overstate their importance.

In reality at least 80% of the people who buy these games has no knowlege about the back story or culture war behind the curtains. They just see a samurai on the e-store and go like «samurais are cool» or maybe «wow a new AC game? l loved Ezio!» and then they buy the game. People like us who check out gaming industry journalism and gossip are a dedicated niche. And among us, the grifters are an even smaller, though insufferably loud niche yellong into the void.

As long as Shadows release day dosent collide with another phenomenal game, I think it’s safe to assume it will sell like hot cakes, no matter the overall quality of the game. I do hope it’s good though.

  13. Absolutely agree , since the first game a large portion of the fan base have wanted to play in Japan , ideally with a character that would start a trilogy like ezio. But instead were forced to play as a foreigner or a woman. If it was any other setting it wouldn’t matter to me but Japan was the mountain top and they deliberately picked provocative characters for some reason.

  14. The business model for grifters is pretty evident for anyone paying attention, but you still fail when you criticize them instead of the points they raise. No one outside their fandom cares about them themselves, but people might still agree with the points they raise, because sometimes those have merit. Like in the case of Yasuke. After much scrutiny on the subject, there is no indication he was anything more than a footnote, mostly being an exotic curiosity for being a black man in 1500's Japan. With that in mind, it's in line with our current cultural zeitgeist why Ubisoft made him a masterful samurai warrior and the protagonist we play as in Shadows (besides Naoe). Understandably frustrating for people who wanted to play a Japanese man in Sengoku-era Japan.

It's fine if you side-line the more egregious reactions, but you shouldn't bundle all criticism towards Yasuke together like Jayvee did in this video. It makes you look like a dingus.
