  1. People luv tik tok cause you can be an absolute nobody and gain massive (un natural) following and feeling like they are special/important/popular. Any other platform (like yt) you have to really create content peope are actually interested in and either build a genuine audience or you just fail imo

  2. If our government really cared about China or any other government having our data,, they would simply make it illegal for data harvesters (like Facebook, Google, AT&T, Verizon, etc.) to sell our data to whoever they want for however much they want. If data was their real concern, they would pass legislature making it illegal to harvest our data. If national security is what they are most worried about, they wouldn't allow any products that have potential to be accessed remotely by a foreign adversary into our country, much less use these products for our infrastructure.

  3. So – EVERY country can ban ANYTHING that the country doesn’t OWN?

Just like the U.S. can sanction ANY country, which refuses to relinquish its own natural resources.

Just like NYState can change its laws to arrest ANYONE who is disliked by ANYONE in the NY State justice system.

  4. Thats a misconception. Its every bit as bad as fb or others. You dont get it. That information can be used against you by anyone or entity that has it. Its just as bad. If you dont believe me, give it a decade. Ill be proven correct

  5. Im tired of people not seeing or talking about the worst case scenerio. Thats because the worst case scenerio is precisely what will happen. Tic toc, or no tic toc. There is an army right under your nose. They are anti american terrorists. They are organized, trained, armed, ready and extremely violent. If you cant see it, you are just an average person. Unfortunately, its a fact. They are just waiting. People are in for the rudest awakening in human history

  6. Facebook messenger accesses every device on any WiFi it connects to to harvest data and sell to…. You guessed it china among many other countries. Please take a second to look at all of the politicians both sides of the house that have invested in meta following the tiktok ban passing.

  7. I have to say, blocking tiktok is not a free speech issue. There is no limiting of free speech by banking tiktok. Tiktok is an import from a foreign country meaning this is an international trade issue which the federal government has full authority to control, especially if there are national security concerns.

  8. It’s a national security threat to corrupt politicians and corporate executives in America. It’s not a threat to the general public. Don’t be fooled. Also, people need to be responsible for their own personal privacy on their devices. I don’t need big brother to “protect” me. I’m sorry, but personal accountability and responsibility is always going to out perform any other behaviors.

  9. Yes it's true that AMERICAN companies collect the same data… And to many that's okay because they're AMERICAN. It's ok if THEY have our personal information… They're not communist after all.
But don't believe for a minute that the information they have isn't sold to the highest bidder. I. Some way or fashion the data collected by Facebook gets to China anyway. And the data collected by your grocery store, or pharmacy cards and any number of other collectors of such things.
In truth we should be protected from ALL companies collecting information. Period.

  10. you cant see me, but Im doing a ecstatic happy dance to this outcome! now they need to take it further and do the same thing to all the rest of the places that steal your data, you know, Windows, Google, Fakebook!

  11. I'd be intrested to know how many of the people that signed the ban & the judges have stock in Meta…oh about 90% of them!? TikTok collects the same exact data that every other ap on your phone does! and if the US government really wants to protect our "National security" they should have passed a full Data Protection law, like every oher country that TikTok is still active in, like the UK & the rest of the Europe, instead of the ap that over half the population is using.
