Having said akk, the major difference between U.S. and Russian air forces is the financial resources available to both. U.S. simply has many times more funding than Russia and that is what affords them so much research and resultant cutting edge tech in their aircraft, their training and sheer numbers. Russia operates efficient cost effectiveness and accomplishing much with little. Congratulations U.S. Airfirce but kudos to Russian Airforce.

And then you have the US Navy’s air power and its game over for Russia.
Thankfully we keep our military is up to date and numerically overwhelming. It's what checks all the bad actors.
The answer to this question is very simple. The US airforce actually works. The Russian airforce doesn't.
The US has the number 1 & 2 spots for largest, most advamced, training and maintance. US Airforce #1 – #2 US Navy. There are no other "near peer" Airforces.

Most of $trillion US defense spending goes to bases, veterans pay, pensions, and other benefits (70%), and corruption and inefficiency in MIC.
The US air force would have destroyed Ukraine in about 4 days. It's been 2 years and russia cant even control the skies over Ukraine.
The biggest difference is the Russian Air Force is shackled to the Army. Where the USAF is told as long as you have some jets around to help the army we don't care what you do after that.
