Huge thanks to @theaninova for sending these over! As our Discord has grown we’ve been getting more and more folks 3D printing their own Lego compatible monorail parts. These are so unique and awesome with their non-standard geometries and the use of Technic pins instead of 3D printed studs. Be sure to check out the links below if you want to print your own or join our Discord to hop in the conversation!

these are so cool!!! those technic holes are such a good idea
1:06 this hasn't been the case for a long time, with the release of the bambu X1C you can basically order a printer, have it arrive and start printing the same day.
Yeah you need to learn some things like how to keep filament dry or what not to do to blow up your printer, but there is no constant hobbying to keep the printer running anymore with the newer models.
Printing is a dark art and need a human sacrifice for it to work!
Looks really good!!
Okay, one more reason to buy a 3D printer.
If you get a printer you can go on 4dbrix you can download the files to print tracks
wait those are printed????? there’s literally no visible layers???
I've 3D printed some of my own lego stuff, including railway track…my results are a bit hit and miss. Injection molding will always have better tolerances. Having said that, this looks very very good quality!
dude those are SO COOL !!! oh man that is a great idea i should print some of my own like that
I wonder if there is a way you could add a switch mechanism to change tracks like in real lego tracks you can do easily…
you can just order a printer and start printing tracks, most printers from up to 2-3 years ago do that
Very cool! Hopefully now more people can get into the LEGO mono-rail space with these!
That looks pretty good. For ease of printing and best compatibility you might even want to flatten the bottom 1×2 antistud 'plate' protrusion (i.e. completely flush underside), and glue in/on an actual Lego 1×2 piece there – or even modify it to accept a 2×2! That way you won't rely on the durability of the filament material.
These look so cool, what I wonder, has anyone ever 3D designed the track switches?
Lots of cool stuff going on in the discord right now when it comes monorail. Maybe we do need to get a printer ourselves Brian.
If only there weren’t tons of other projects on my list.
Dang, I NEED those S curves.
was labert der für einen Scheiß
A great use of borrowing tolerances from something else. What with Lego's very specific stud feel and clutch force being extremely difficult to replicate on a 3d printer, just use their own parts and nail down the spacing! Genius
Still broke
But great vid
Finally got a Lego maersk train and decided to go 9v. My track is pretty simple oval using 5 straight track for size reference. I’m not to sure on the performance of the maersk and I notice you run yours with power up, would you say the maersk runs better rc than 9v or the same either way?
Well this is awesome!
wouldn't there be someone who could just make them with a mold, like lego?
1:54 keep in mind that the reason the official Lego tracks have a different interface for any part that doesn’t end on a 90° angle is to keep everything aligned to the grid, so that you don’t have to do anything special to support the tracks. So with the official 1/8 turns the only things you can connect to them are another 1/8 turn, a switch track, or a diagonal track ( designed and patented, but never produced by Lego; 4Dbrix has the Diagonal tracks in their design inventory). Using smaller, fractional curves that follow the same curvature won’t preserve the grid nature of the monorail tracks — you’re making trouble for yourself when it comes to doing layouts.
4:38 regular studs should fit, but it looks obvious to me that the taller studs on stanchions (or minifig legs, for that matter) won’t.
