I'm gonna say it.. and idc what anyone has to say. First of all, I served in the military so I know what locking your knees do. Second, it appears he turns around and catches his fall. When you pass out, you don't attempt to catch yourself. That's a natural body defense to prevent injury when falling, you don't do that when you're passing out.
