CORRECTION: In the video, I say the median annual income in Queensland is $97,000. According to the Australian Bureau of Statistics, in August of 2024 (the latest figures published so far), the median weekly gross income was $1350, putting the median annual income at $70,200.
This is the result of rushing the video out and not fact checking as intensively as I would have liked to. I will endeavour to avoid such errors in future.
I wouldn't trust housing stats written and produced by right wing corporations. Use the fact based, unbiased ABS stats.

Also there is not a single Chinese or Indian city on the list. If they added those cities in I guarantee Brisbane will drop at least 20 positions on the list.

There's one thing that Brisbane has that Tokyo (and European and Asian cities) does not have: potholes. Also there's patches over potholes that have become potholes again. So what's the reason? Tokyo's weather is more extreme with hot summers and cold (snow) winters so it seems to me to be poor road construction here.

Brisbane’s official should do something with area in south Brisbane where Parmalat factory is. Need to remove all that industry objects and create something similar to south bank parklands…cause it’s becoming overloaded
Thanks for such a comprehensive view of [Greater?] Brisbane, and coverage of sociological issues. There's no 'duty of care' in governments, local councils, and even agencies or services such as NDIS. I live in bad circumstances, with good neighbours and a great part of my suburb Trinder Park demolished for 'faster rail' between Brisbane and the Gold Coast.
I've been boiling the water for months – since houses were demolished nearby. This was before the latest mention of smelly water. I have life-threatening conditions – and finding it difficult to be cared for by my carer in Kyogle, NSW – only 100km away as the crow flies. People from Kyogle once had rail access to the Byron coast and to Brisbane. Trains came through at zround 10am, and they returned south on the Sydney-Brisbane line in the evening. Now, few can use the services departing Kyogle at 2.47am and immediately returning for Sydney after cleaning,
I returned to Logan for a close station to attend University of Queensland, but was informed by staff when paying rates at Logan Council – that the Trinder Park station is going to be demolished – and possibly no practical substitute built. One plan from December 2003 suggests they build anew station over the wetlands near Stretton housing – which may flood if they build a 4-track new corridor there. 3 years ago, the Trinder community suggested a 'tunnel' under the housing. A new wide corridor between my house and the aged care facility would be like a Berlin Wall – isolating the aged care inmates.
Logan Council and Queensland government knew of the new corridor allignment years before informing anyone. It wasn't till the Olympic Games were decided – residents were informed their houses would be resumed. This is sheer hardship, reducing our lifespans even further than the current downward fall in longevity. Pensioners find it difficult not to be scammed when stressed – and may move into a worse off situation.
One man had his house plans approved one year before having his new house demolished. Logan Councillors were sacked for two years, but received full pay during the Covid-19 lockdowna. Over 300 homes will be demolished, house are boarded up here and there; no-one knows whar;s going on. Public consultation was a 7am meeting at a station 2-3 years ago. This also brings more disadvamtage to people with chronic illness, diability etc, There's no voice at all in Logan.
A problem is 'privatisation' or getting industry to 'tender' for various infrastructure deals. These are not integrated with housing and the needs of residents and visitors to Logan. After Beenleigh station, only one 'faster train' stop exists – at Loganlea Hospital. Whover makes the plans has no idea of what is important for Logan. Logan has no proper integrated public transport system – which should not be considered as a system of buses – separate from southern Brisbane suburbs.
A new suburb lays on the Sydney-Brisbane dual-gauge rail line – but it's full of pensioners and unemplyed etc. who are treated badly. They're told to use buses, and if they do, they still will not get rail services on the adjacent line. Brisbane had more rail stations 100 years ago – than today! They wish to add a bus trip to rail – making Brisbane trips even longer to locals – as they attempt to fool Olympic visitors with Indian-made trains, six-carriage sets open all the way through where air-born viruses can easily spread with the poor air-conditioning and vents. All the government can think of is more lockdowns instead of proper quarentine, and better infrastructure for hot and stormy weather. We must have walkways and ramps under busy intersections into rail station – not glass prisms over the rail tracks needing more power for airconditioning and lifts that break down.

I’m not in favour of us hosting this event that has become a massive monetary burden to every country that holds it. Brisbane is already 1 billion in debt, the federal government is approaching 1 trillion in debt. Why are we doing this. The rewards are very limited tourist wise, spending a billion on a temporary swimming hole is crazy. I wish Brisbane would just hand it back to the Olympic community or the runner up. We will be paying for this event for decades to the detriment of other much needed services. Does anyone else feel this way?
Unity Water meter boxes are rubbish and they are their own creation! At my property they replaced a dry clean 25 year old box with a box that is not weather proof. Soil enters from underneath through a gap they didn't seal, thus creating conditions like the photo you used. The meter is perpetually covered in soil and water (no soil) enters from above turning the soil into mud.
