Press Release:
Today, Apple TV+ revealed the trailer for the second season of “Silo,” the world-building, global hit drama based on Hugh Howey’s New York Times bestselling trilogy of dystopian novels. Created by Emmy-nominated screenwriter Graham Yost, who also serves as showrunner, and starring and executive produced by Rebecca Ferguson, the 10-episode second season will premiere globally on Friday, November 15 on Apple TV+ with the first episode, followed by one new episode every Friday through January 17, 2025.

“Silo” is the story of the last ten thousand people on earth, their mile-deep home protecting them from the toxic and deadly world outside. However, no one knows when or why the silo was built and those who try to find out face fatal consequences. Ferguson stars as Juliette, an engineer who seeks answers about a loved one’s murder and tumbles onto a mystery that goes far deeper than she could have ever imagined, leading her to discover that if the lies don’t kill you, the truth will.

  1. I think the show gave the hint of the safe guard with to Silo 17. It is chemical gas to shut down a silo that is either out of control or puts at risk other silos. I am thinking when people go out to clean, a small amounts of gas is sent to the surface to kill the cleaner to scare people to stay in silo for their protection. I think all the gas is released when either the AI or whoever is controlling silo deems the silo can’t be saved. I think the tunnel is also used to release the gas inside the tunnel, since silo 17 was flooded, it prevented the gas getting into the silo which allowed the people to live who didn’t go out. I think the key hint was Jimmy was able to watch what happened in the vault. He said it was a clear day and people were happy…then the dust came and killed everyone. With all those dead bodies outside of silo 17 showed the air is safe to breathe, but some entity is making it temporarily poisonous when people go out to clean. Cleaners have to die on camera so people will think the world isn’t safe until the AI or whoever is running the declares a winner. The game is rigged. Meadows understood this and stopped playing the game and started drinking.

  2. Love your recaps and breakdowns as always! need that stitch btn the first episode flashback of sherriff n his wife and solos flashback in this episode!<3

Also, does anyone feel like the author of the books was writing an allegory with a deeper commentary for readers( and now watchers) to unlock/ponder…its making me think a lot about control of information (esp about the ancient past) by media, governments, technology and who actually answers to who? why do the upper classes resort to blaming lower classes for a nations problem? WHY DO WE THINK the creator and show writers have us all fixated on going outside as a solution when actually its the opposite? being stuck in a classist silo vs dying of noxious gases as the only two options dont seem very optimistic and for both the show and in real life, i wonder what better alternatives could exist?(also has anyone seen any interesting interviews with the book author Hugh Howey about his inspo for this series?) Thank again Pete

  3. you reckoned the head of ITs suit is sabotaged too? what is the point of keeping the head of IT alive if the SILO is dead. he will just be another mouth to feed in other silos and security risk too.

  4. Question: how different are the books from the show series so far? I'm super tempted to read the books, but don't want to spoil the remaining seasons. By way of comparison, I think that while the books and the TV series for The Expanse cover the same themes and kind of wind up in the same place, there are sufficient differences that make them independent experiences.

  5. I haven’t read the books but I’m assuming Salvador’s use of the term “game” wasn’t metaphorical but literal. And that the safeguard is to protect against those not worthy?

  6. I swear I got the vibe he was lieing and just put on a show for the head of IT. At the same time he was telling walker he knew what was going on and understood why she did it

  7. One of the weirder things about this episode was when dude goes down the rope to the water. The lady doesn't stay to see what happened to him. Even if you aren't willing/able to help someone that jumps into unknown water the information you'd get from seeing him being able to stand would be useful data. Either way I'm still enjoying the show. Faithful enough to the book. There are changes but not story breaking changes. It's good to see the build up to future events. Seeing how things happened that weren't explained in the books a lot. Makes it make sense
