Our Smart ForTwo arrived with a seized alternator and a failed starter motor as a result. After some battling, with helpful friends, the Smart got back on the road, we fixed boost leaks and had some fun!
Then we had to say goodbye. Glad to see it still with a very happy owner some months later.

Loved the smart car adventures a quirky car for sure.
Sad to see it go, but great to see it saved for the scrapheap
Was a passenger in one.. Seemed very frenetic and fun, Seat of yer pants motoring!
6:25 – would that have been the Smart car showroom that was in Kings Norton, Birmingham where you was test driving Smarts from? Now a branch of Bristol Street Motors
Get a 451 !
Good money to be made on theseππ
as Jethro once said "its a hautomatic but I try and be here if I can"
AY UP MR AND MRS HUBNUT
Don't bother trying to weld an exhaust box. Too easy to blow holes in them and hardly lasts at all. Light at 7 at night???? It is dark here at 4:00. How many months ago did you do this?
Well that was a roller coaster ride of emotions , i really disliked the car and thought it pointless untill you fixed her up nicely then i understood why you wanted it in the first place , and then it was gone !
So pleased that Davie is having fun with it up in Scotland.
Great to see a video detailing all of what was done in the Smart in one video. Early days of Smart Ownership resulted in the Crankshaft Position Sensor Failing, this has since been replaced, along with a new exhaust, I've also undersealed the car, and given it a oil and filter service and plan to do change the oil again in March/April. I've also made the Smart my own with some little styling mods and currently thinking how I can brighten up the interior, it is now my daily car replacing my Citroen C4 Cactus and is just about to click over to 5000 miles, most of that going up and down the A1/M1/M6 attending Car Shows and Smart Owners clubs meets. I've been bitten by the Smart Bug and a huge thank you to Ian and Carly for saving the Smart and giving it a second chance. You Can follow the Adventures of Arnold Smart as he is now known as over on my Youtube Channel.
Isnβt this an old video that has been re uploaded ?
It was an awesome car, shame you sold it. But a least it went to a good home. π
I always fancied a Smart but I'm glad I didn't get one. I did look at adverts for them but was put off by all the lists of new bits that had been fitted.
@29:22 Don't forget to take some tasty Gouda with you. π€
Drive Caerphilly everyone π
love the recap form of video, i forgot about some of the problems you had, heres looking to more car flips in 2025
An interesting car. I would not want to be in a bad crash in one thou.
Good to see all the Smart saga in one video. Thanks for putting this together.
another great video has always Ian and Carly miss/mrs hubnut and hublets and hubmutt π
Again the wrong smart car, get a 2004/06 forfour
It was quite the saga getting that thing to run, they definitely didn't build them with the home mechanic in mind, that's a given… :S
I wonder whats more of a pain to work on , a 2006 smart or a 2006 mini , i am currently doing the clutch on a 2006 mini its bit of a pain to say the least having to drop the sub frame ect.
Glad to see Miss HubNut doing what I do in an automatic: left-foot trying to find the clutch, left-hand trying to find the gear stick!
Weehoo I'm like number 559!
Welsh are clueless
Bumps a car on a hill rather than bump it when its getting towed
Put a sail on call it a junk
Very nicely done to save this little Smart car from scrap, and restore it back to life ππ
