In this video I analyze how we’re all performers in our lives. Drawing on Nietzsche’s philosophy, I explore the masks we wear, the roles we play, and the hidden complexity beneath our everyday personas.
Ever wondered why we act differently in every social context? Why our “true self” feels more like a collection of performances than a fixed identity? This video dives deep into these questions.
Part philosophical exploration, part cultural critique-this piece will make you see your daily interactions in a completely new light.

I live and struggle with PTSD and I'm suspicious of everything and everyone. My mask is my shield. I only see Truth in God and Nature.
Another great video. Thank you.
the video offers an interesting exploration of the concept of masks and their role in modern life, drawing on the ideas of several philosophers. however, it oversimplifies some of these ideas, particularly Nietzsche's concepts, and presents a somewhat one-sided view of masks and authenticity. while it raises valid concerns about inauthenticity and fragmentation, it doesn't fully explore the positive functions of masks or the complexities of selfhood.
I'm a very creative and expressive person naturally.
But I'm just average at arts and gifted in social skills and technical skills.
And strong and long lived.
The mask is like both a protector and a parasite. The mask helps hide our weaknesses and at the same time can project a false enticing image to trick others into loving and liking our persona. Tragically this mask becomes exhausting to maintain yet there is a great fear that lurks in the psyche “what if everyone dislikes me when I’m exposed”. Personally I’ve found it more securing forming relationships from a point of warts and all, you have more energy by just simply being you and you’re more relaxed (a women who projects a mask of beauty will fear losing that just as a man who projects a mask of power both have become tied to their masks and fear letting them go, yet in the darkness we can discover a hidden light of authenticity that can be rekindled back to life to live our life).
I feel like I'm trapped amongst a species of mimics and I was told for as long as I can remember to be a mimic. I chose not to participate and suffered, so I learned to mimic the mimics in a way that I wouldn't become a mimic but was able to be around the mimics who were mimicking other mimics who wanted to be mimics even though I wasn't a mimic and wanted to be unique I came to realize I had become like every other mimic in that "want to be" as opposed to just being… I played this mimic game for a long time.
Then… One day I woke up and now, now I just exist and I have nothing to say, I just observe. I don't even know how to express feelings anymore. I just exist.

Automatons
my mask refuses to see itself as a mask
I have a mediocre identity. I wanted to be a famous musician as a young man, but I’ve never been all that talented, so I have come to accept that I am an average person. I have nothing to really offer this world but. 💩
I think that people hide themselves because they infact – are – really guilty.
I am too.
That much about guilt. But, also IMHO, what was violently abolished, but is absolutely necessary in a human, and humane, society is – shame, a very foundation of all human culture.
P.S.
Poor old Nietzsche was absolutely truthfull in this tirade about – himself. 🧠 But, he was deluded that there is no one outside of him to confess his sins, and no Mercy in this world. And, all alone, or feeling as such, people die… R.I.P. ✝️👋
Oh, children… 🥺 These are true human faces, from my, and previous generations from the previous one to this new century:
We still love you.

Diese entmenschlichende Rhetorik und die vollkommen faltenfreie Argumentation von Frau Weidel ist chocierend.

Our Symphony of Selves
What book covers his views on self? Anybody know? Im looking for a book summarizing Nietzsches views on self.
No problem
It’s not “false selves” – it’s having no self at all. Modernism is dead. That means the subject has already disappeared back into the collectivity. In short, the machines can turn you off, you can’t turn them off.
That thumbnail is really good
Fakers & posers !!
This video relates deep to what i contemplated and realised myself these past few years. Thank you for explaining it lucidly!
As long as society exists, as long as people have to deal with each other…there will be masks
We can only ever be ourselves when we are alone…or…to be strong enough to live without people and their cities of gray.
I can't relate to people anymore. Especially young people. I just project my humanity and grace to others hopi g they will come around.
If they ever do an anime they should do Nietzsche Guevara, a character that shoots small creatures with an elephant gun and takes drugs and grabs neo-nazi's to tell them his findings in space then smashes them into the eart super sayan style!!!
Do you even understand what a false self is?? Clearly not, nor do you then realise the ignorance of your idea. People bandy words about without really understanding what these words describe. Such is social media…full of fools believing they're insightful. No, this is paranoid lumpen idiocy. The implication is you may be a real self? And how would a personality evolve with no conflict endogenously or exogenously from birth to adulthood? It can't is the answer….so everyone has adaptive structures….and don't know it….but these can be resolved in therapy when conducted extremely well…..thought itself is an adaptive structure relative to the Self…. understanding Krishnamurti or RD Laing tells this tale from two different poles. But this video is horse sht.
