The Eiffel Tower is way bigger than it has any business being! I've seen it in person. Just one of those base spokes is like the size of a football field. They have to paint the thing year round, starting at the top then working down, to keep it from rusting. When I went, the whole plaza had refugees going in circles around the thing who were trying to sell pink plastic key chains of the tower and didn't know how to haggle. They kept upcharging you no matter how many times you said no until they got bored enough to leave.
Gonna be honest, when I saw the title I thought they were talking about Obon, the Japanese festival that's somewhere between Halloween and Thanksgiving where families return to their homes to welcome their dead ancestors for dinner. Usually that involves fireworks spectacles, often involving giant kanji characters made of fire displayed on mountainsides. I thought one of those festivals had gone spectacularly wrong. Still, glad to see Gareth being embraced so much as the semi-official fourth cohost that he even gets his own bonus episode. Welcome to the permanent team, Gareth!
I have a fireworks story of my own. When I was young enough to be stupid but too old to not know better, I was at a small 4th of July party in a neighbors backyard launching fireworks. They were letting us kids launch them as well. I, however, did not know that you are supposed to put the mortar in a cylinder to launch them into the air, and lit one, placed it on the ground only 20 feet from everyone. The resulting explosion can be described as magical if you didn't know better. It looked like a thousand tiny fairies flying past everyone within the explosion range. Thankfully, nobody was hurt, but that was the last time I was allowed near explosives.
Just googled Appleton Tower…. Is it supposed to look like a harmonica? Or an accordion with a large comb stuck in the side? It an original Star Trek tricorder? All I know is it looks like a building I don't want to be in.
Tvh donโt listen, was all waffle and no topic basically, the actual ep on patrion i mean. I love the tangents vut they didnโt stop on this one . For an hours ep
My local fireworks store is required to have you fill out a form that says where you'll be taking the fireworks out of the state… so they helpfully printed a poster listing the names of a couple dozen cities in adjacent states.
Please, severe tangents and illegal bleeped opinions and alcohol inspired rambling. Somehow you actually end up with a podcast ! Keep talking over eachother and trying to explain yourselves. ๐
I love alchemy because those crazy bastards were right in the end, they just didn't realize you need the energy of a massive collapsing star to turn lead into gold.
I've noticed a nunber of comments on this video have little inline searches now – Obon, Chinese alchemy, Cybertruck, Star Trek tricorder, among others. Is this another amazing assistance feature Youtube is introducing? And why do they think we want this?
They give the alchemists hell, meanwhile Tycho Brahe (Johannes Kepler's boss) died of a burst bladder at a royal feast….though he was also suffering from diabetes and other fat Danish guy diseases of the late 1500s (he died in 1601).
(Forgot to mention his gold nose, which he had made after he lost the natural one in a duel.)
JFC, ya'll. What an amazingly horrifying coincidence…
My Hometown on a WTYP, I never thought they would never have to stoop this low

Genuinely do not understand what everyone is groaning about at 16:07. Anyone help me get the joke?

Wait…really, you end it on "poisoning feels good"? LOL.
for reasons far too boring to explain, "going to Oban" is an inside joke in my family. Anyway, it's delightful to see this podcast go to Oban

A UK firework disaster from 2011 and itโs not Taunton Rugby Club ๐ค๐ณ

Loving the sneak peak at the Goddamn News. The drone freakout and presumably the reason an airline logo is on a boxcar.
Fireworks are an early form of uncle magic
I'm so happy for you patreon members! The long silence is over <3
I'll join when I stop being totally broke…

Starting the year off with a bang
15:52 I live in a world lit by skibbidi toilet and fireworks still blow my mind.
Contact Mike could be what finally stops Jake Paul's reign of bullshit fights.
