I love watching your videos because I learn so much. Though I was aware of the unique features of each soldier, I was not aware of why they were left headless. Were not the heads found broken around the statues?
There's a drama set in the Tang Era where one of the actors looks so much like one of the terracotta soldiers, down to his armor it shocked me to see him alive from my history book.
They finally came to my local art museum! I couldn't get tickets fast enough, remembering this little bit of fascinating international history from my school days. I always wanted to see them and never thought I'd actually get the chance 30 years later.
In my eyes, it's a show of respect. We don't know what they looked like, but it was clear each and every terracotta soldier was unique. It was a person. So we must honor each individual without displaying a false face.
And in some ways, it's the same sentiment as the Tomb of the Unknown Soldier over in America. We don't know who they were, but we do know they lost their life in war, fighting to preserve lives. They represent every single unknown soldier lost in war, which is why we must honor them. Their names may be lost–their faces may be lost!–but we WILL honor them.
Always fascinating!❤

But when they come in contact, their pigment oxidized when coming in contact with oxygen.
