Former president Jimmy Carter is being remembered for his lifetime of service, one day after passing away at the age of 100.
The 39th president is known for his volunteer efforts for Habitat for Humanity, whose Carter Work Project helped build and repair more than 4,400 homes and inspire more than 100,000 volunteers to help build them, according to the nonprofit.
South-central Pennsylvania leaders of Habitat for Humanity say Carter’s commitment to hard work and caring for others made him a perfect fit to advocate for the group.

Habitat for humanity is about how we should live our own individual lives by giving hope to those who desperately need it. However this does not translate to leadership, guidance, and mentoring. It is giving a man a fish vs. teaching a man to fish. Both require your time and effort, but the latter can be passed down for generations. America picked a fine human being to be president in 1976. Unfortunately he beat our swords into plowshares and it didn’t take long before the bullies were taking our fish.

President Carter was a truly great human being and a good person, although he was not a great President, too good, too honest. I was just too young to vote for him, but he would have been the only person in my personal voting history that I voted for ( rather than voting against the worst candidate)
