  1. This is now officially my lowest liked video ever lol and I'll I did was bring up the arguments from both sides. I'd also like to say that many of these comments are not grounded in fact below so do your own research. Many of the comments are thoughtfull and informative. For the Record I don't even know my own full opinion on this topic. Converstation is the only way to get there. I do want to point out a couple of things so I don't keep responsing in the comments. Canada post is indeed not a private entity. It is a government entity. Also anybody who thinks that the Federal government has not subsidized the USPS is misguided. They have to the tune of Billions and will continue to. The numbers are mounting each year. Those that want to blame it on a party or a President feel free but make no mistake that one person or one leader of the post office does not account for Hundreds of billions of losses. Those that want to bury their head in the sand feel free but the post office and this issue is one that will affect resellers for decades to come. It will either result in major reforms in service, major cost increases, privitazation, or increased subsidies by the tax payer to the federal governent. It likely will not ever result in privitization but things likely won't continue on the track we are on either. Sorry if bringing up a relevant topic is enough to make you unsubscribe from this channel. Apparently it is for many. Imagine if I actually would have taken a stand instead of just bring up the topic since it came up in the news of late. Thank you to the reasonable folks who make reasonable statements and contribute to the discussion.

  2. For me i'm in Canada and what I had to deal with in 4th quarter was a Canada post strike. On top of that originally they said that it was going to be a rotating strike. When the day came to do the strike they changed their mind and the whole service shut down for a month. So I had to chance how I was going to do my shipping at the last minute. On the weekend I switched to Chit Chats (which uses US Post in the US) The cost was a lot less for shipping and it was a lot faster doing shipping. Also my costs when t down for 50% of my items by about 50% My sales went up after about 2 weeks and it has been keeping steady lately.

I tried UPS and Fed Ex when I had a chance and they were a lot more expensive. USPS and Canada Post privishing would never work because there would be no mail for rural areas, PO Boxes and areas that are too far away. Would be super expansive all of a sudden. They are needed as they are because of that.

  3. SAME! If the price is competitive at all, I have switched to FedExbfor everything I can.
I currently have 9 pkgs drom Dec. 6th that show no movement since their first scan.
I shipped nearly 200 packages in 3 weeks in December, and have had ZERO issue with FedEx losing pigs, and not showing tracking.

  4. No problems with ups this season. However I probably had about 25% problems with usps . Nothing lost by usps all the problems were delays 1 to 2 weeks past the original delivery estimate. Basically the tracking numbers would go dark for a week .

  5. Socializing losses and privatizing profits is the conservative way. Please, please, please, NO. A private business won't find it profitable to deliver mail to rural areas. USPS is a SERVICE not a business, because it serves the American people. You won't find UPS or Fedex doing squat to deliver first class mail to Joe Trump Voter in East Bumblef**k. The right wingers who want to shut down "socialist" public services like USPS will be the first ones hurt by it, ironically.

  6. My go 2 tape! ๐Ÿคž๐Ÿฝ Iโ€™ve had a LOT of problems with USPS and Fed Ex this season. Items not even being scanned at all, with no tracking, then suddenly showing up delivered, items being in limbo for two weeks, items arriving damaged, and items being bounced around from place to place. Thankfully most of my customers have been absolute Saints about it.

  7. Most USPS buildings need some major upkeep. Fresh power wash. A coat a paint. Inside repairs. And most importantly landscaping. Appearance will go a ways to draw folks in. They are not hiring. They will wait for a veteran to apply before they bring on someone new. Heard this from a few station managers mouths.

  8. Knock on wood, I had only one slight issue this Q4 with the USPS delivery. I only got a neutral feedback which I chose to just reply. But I do not do near the volume you do. I agree that Ground Advantage was a game changer. Unfortunately, I now have tons of Priority boxes just hogging up space. ๐Ÿ˜ข

  9. Brilliant, what it needs is to pay million dollar CEO salaries and board of directors to take their cut. Oh and then they will need tons of commmercials and pay to put their name on sports stadiums! NOT!!! My post office has never lost a shipment in 5 years of reselling. Have you ever worked in Corporate America? Theres plenty of slackers and bad employees there too that never get fired.

  10. I have several packages USPS that were late but I have one I shipped December 10th. A $50 Christmas dress. It stopped tracking the 19th. I haven't heard from the buyer and when I went to track the package and it said it was like an offshore shipping address or something like that. The person has an Asian name so I don't know what to do.

  11. MyGo2Tape I can honestly say I didnโ€™t have any problem with USPS during Q4. I was very fortunate. Of course I have no where near the volume of sales that you have. Keep up these videos. I learn a lot. Happy New Year to you and your family

  12. I'm of the mind that we should have a US Post Office. But having a Postmaster General that doesn't seem to know what he's doing, or maybe he does and I personally believe that it's being run into the ground, supporting privatization and, therefore, no longer having to fund a USPS. Not providing the additional support and manpower needed to handle the Holiday shipping traffic is negligent at best and it wasn't like they didn't know what they were heading into. I was blamed by eBay buyers through neg feedback and requested refunds for not receiving their packages in a timely manner, even though I had no control over the shipping by USPS. I love my local PO and the staff there and do not hold any of the workers in any PO responsible for the lack of responsibility of the Postmaster General.

  13. Shipping in Canada for that item is min $7 thru eBay and up to $9.50 to the other end of the country. My one store sells almost exclusive into the US and I eat a lot of shipping every year. We are getting a 20 to 40 cent increase on letter mail within Canada and the US, our last increase was just 6 months ago.

  14. Post office doesn't lose money that's a corporate talking point. The reason the postal service appears to be losing money is because of a congressionally mandated retirement healthcare funding program that no other government agency is required to observe. Any company or agency who prefunded retirement in this manner would be losing money, its all a calculated longtail plan to privatize the post-office and remove postal service from most rural areas and jack prices up unbelievably high, hence your dislikes.

  15. The United States Constitution's Postal Clause, or Article I, Section 8, Clause 7, gives Congress the power to establish the postal system:

Establish post offices and post roads: Congress has the power to establish post offices and post roads, including the authority to designate existing buildings and routes.

Designate mail routes: The Post Office has the authority to designate mail routes.
Regulate mail: The Post Office has the authority to carry, deliver, and regulate mail.
Designate non-mailable materials: The Post Office has the authority to designate certain materials as non-mailable.
Criminalize postal abuses: The Post Office has the authority to pass statutes criminalizing abuses of the postal system, such as mail fraud and armed robbery of post offices.
Control land: Congress has the power to control land for post roads and the buildings needed to maintain the mail delivery system.

From Post Roads to the Post Office Department – Postal Posts
The Postal Clause had its roots in the Articles of Confederation, which came before the Constitution. The first substantive postal law was enacted in 1792.

The Postal service is the ONLY service – please note service. defined in the Constitution. Just dump Dejoy who is heavily invested in UPS. his plan is whats messing things up.

  16. Anyone who is honest about business has to admit that USPS is a huge money pit. That being said, I have no strong feelings about whether it should be privatized or not. I feel like those who have very strong feelings one way or the other are using the USPS issue as the point of a ideological spear that advances deeper beliefs about government services. As for FedEx, they may be affordable, but I will never use them based on how horribly they deliver packages to my home! They toss them on random parts of my property and it's like an Easter Egg Hunt to find them. I use USPS 95% and UPS only for large items. I only had one slow (10 days) delivery in Q4 and no lost packages.

  17. I use USPS 100% of the time. Only had one issue when a delivery was late, buyer disregarded note from USPS carrier to leave gate unlocked so package could eventually delivered. In this case it was buyer issue, not USPS.

  18. Love your videos, I've learned so much. My name is AMY DI RITO. People mispronounce our last name, thus the reason that I've dubbed my channel name Cool Ranch DiRito. (LOL). I think the USPS would be better off as a Privatized business, where it is required to "answer to it's shareholders". Maybe then, the Government (AKA: All US Citizens) wouldn't have to subsidize a business that keeps losing billions of dollars every year.

  19. I made a stupid mistake buying 2 pairs of shoes & insoles from an online merchant that is located in China. Reviews were great , prices not cheap , but affordable. The shoes did not fit. It has been a nightmare returning them. I checked UPS & USPS. At USPS it cost $50 to return them. At UPS over $200

  20. ALL of our Q4 packages were shipped via the USPS (we don't ship UPS or FedEx because we had issues with them in the past). We mostly sell books, so most of our items ship via Media Mail. Throughout the year, most of our Media Mail packages take 3 to 6 days to get to our buyers, even those on the US west coast (we are in Florida). We don't want to see the USPS privatized!! LeJoy needs to go! BTW, USPS workers get paid very well, with good benefits.

  21. You want to use private delivery do it!!!! We have that. Google 'FedEx' or 'UPS'. Tired of boomers who already got theirs trying to take everything away from others. You say you're not political, but you are and have been for a while.

  22. I have actually noticed that UPS & FedEx are cheaper than even ground advantage on some packages. Especially larger ones. I just was listing an item that defaulted to UPS because that was the last option I used and I would normally use ground advantage but it was about $3 cheaper for UPS. and it wasn't a big it heavy item… I am very close to the post office so if I switch to UPS & FedEx it will be a drive and actually cost me more in gas… tough call.
As for the past office they actually just need to run it better… it seems there is a lot of waste.

  23. Hi. There is a real world example of a compromise. Back in the 90s there was the same debate about the Canadian postal service or Canada Post. Is the Canadian equivalent of the US postal service. The compromise was that it would be kept as a public company, but it would not be subsidized by the taxpayers anymore it had to rely on what it sold on labels and search to operate as a result Canada is the highest North American country for shipping. For example do ship a t-shirt from Toronto to BC. Would be about 18. To 20 dollars Canadian which is the the equivalent us would be 15 to $18 us. The same distance in the United States would be from Ohio to Oregon. Or from Ohio to San francisco. So if they want to keep it public but take away the substation of the taxpayers. Then the people would have to pay for higher shipping on their shipping labels. You need to pay for shipping one way or the other either through taxes or shipping labels. As up to the consumer for the government to choose.

  24. Other than eBay fees being my biggest complaint, being hit with an additional amount weeks later for a shipping claim is frustrating. I have been using eBay for 27 years. I just started doing dedicated reselling as the lionshare of my transactions. I am frustrated with the lack of information in justifying the additional charges because after the 1st time I made sure my measurements and weight were accurate or higher to avoid losing my profit. I used to offer free shipping but now only do that for things that are over $200. But it's ridiculous after ebay takes their cut. Which I'm annoyed how it includes the shipping in the selling final value fee, it can eat up my profit and makes it so I make pennies on ROI. I have stopped opting USPS and even if FedEx or UPS is a quarter higher I feel the access and accountability is worth the stress reduction. I always include the priority mail option for a second choice if someone wants the expidited delivery. I so far have no problems but Considering the including the shipping in the total eBay takes a cut on it makes that shipping discount they offer on the rate you pay not really a discount when it still ends up going into eBay on the percentage it adds to their fee. So is it a discount? I just sold 2 watches that the total collected was $212 and my take was only $153 that ends being over 20% , I don't use enhanced options to boost my sales. Granted it's better than sitting on listings or selling at garage sale prices but it's a glorified Craig's list ad when it a buy it now only list. I'm only carrying 30-40 items that don't get a quick turnover, I have found that revising the Title raising the price and adding best offer gets more attention to my slow listings. But eBay gets too much off the top for what I get in return from them in my opinion. Back in 98 I think the final value was between 3-6% depending on the category + an insertion fee now the insertion fee is free for small sellers up to 250 a month but They Nickle and dime you for everything else and try to convince you they are doing you a favor. It is what it is. ๐Ÿ˜Š

  25. You already have two private options, UPS and FedEx. Nobody is forcing you to use USPS. If you donโ€™t like USPS services, donโ€™t use them. Very simple!

  26. Ho there Kvin, I, like you, use ground advantage for almost everything. I'd say at least 95% of the time. If there's a special reason, I will also ship priority-only once in a great while. A hot VHS goes to auction and we've done well with that, but only a very few auctions in a year. As far as USPS service, great service here. Only one minor I identify for the whole year. Someone asked me about a missing package that was very late. After reviewing tracking, I see it had stalled at their distribution here in my small town on the east coast of Massachusetts. I called them about the problem, and miraculously , when I woke up the next morning, it had started moving quickly. It was delivered within 2 days on the west coast. Otherwise, no problem whatsoever. So re: the tape giveaway, I just want to say once again, thank you for the opportunity Kevin. MYGO2TAPE. โค๐ŸŽ‰๐Ÿ˜Š

  27. I send out about 99% of my packages through USPS. The other 1% UPS. I do not use Fedex. I had absolutely no issues occur through USPS this quarter 4. Everything arrived safely within its approximate arrival date. It was wonderful! I guess I just got lucky that quarter.

  28. FedEx chargebacks have started again. We always round up size and weight. We should not have these issues. FedEx inverted the dimensions and we have a $15.89 additional postage charge.
Also know that, USPS Ground Advantage has insurance up to $100 while UPS Ground Saver and the Fed Ex Saver do not offer insurance.

  29. NO.
Overhaul, restructure or fire DeJoy, yes they should do that. Privatization is not the answer.
US Postal Service is a public service designed and created to serve all, it's never meant to turn in profit.
If you want to complain about losses of taxpayer money to waste, start with the military. USPS losses don't even come close. The problem is Americans are afraid to touch that wasteful golden cow military machine.

As a part time seller for 15 years, I can honestly say EBay sellers and E-commerce merchants should be the last ones to even entertain or worse, support the idea of USPS privatization.
We penny-pinch and complain about every little fees incurred in our business operations, a privatized USPS would be the biggest FAFO moment for resellers, a dagger not just for us but to buyers as well. Be careful what you wish for.

If you want private service, go FedEx and UPS and DHL, use them and charge your buyers accordingly. I've used them on occasions, they're not perfect either and even more expensive. No one's stopping you from using them.
