I know it's a common phrase (mostly because of Superman), but a "speeding train" doesn't mean a train going fast. Tracks have speed limits, and a speeding train is exceeding those limits. I'm sure that wasn't the intention, but by calling it a "speeding train" you are assigning some amout of blame to the train and its driver, which doesn't appear to be deserved in this case.
Engineers on locomotives are at risk these days more so than many years ago because the railroads and the agencies operating passenger service are concerned with cost savings rather than the safety of the operating crews. Thus, locomotives are lighter and offer less protection for crews than in the past. If idiots get in they way, they should not have to suffer injuries or death. This is pathetic and the unions should be proactive and even bring suit to correct this. There's no excuse.
Firefighter truck driver training class hours vary by program, but can range from 40 to 60 hours . The average cost of fire academy training is $5,622 , in Florida
Little girl @1:27 gives a better, more clear description of what she witnessed than 90% of the general public, and at least 50% of all so-called "journalists". I would trust her as White House spokesperson more than any of the clowns that have occupied that position in the last 4 years.
Looks like there WILL BE openings for fireman positions at that firehouse! As a CDL-A HAZMAT driver, i have to stop at ALL railroad crossings, creep up, look both ways twice and then proceed. This fire truck driver is not an exception!
Obviously he thought the freight train had passed and it was the reason for the gates being down, not realizing a 2nd high speed train was approaching. Proves why you don’t cross until the lights stop flashing and the gates raise up.
Fire Dept better play this in every fire station 24/7 just to remind them follow all safety road warnings. Your no help to the public when you think you have the authoriy to go around a track crossing location with. Barricade arms in the down position
They should both lose their pension and be fired the firefighters could have killed a lot of people lazy to get paid all day 24 hours at pisses me off😢
A brand new ladder truck will cost over a million dollars and with I'm guessing a three year lead way for it's completion. Because they also have to wait there turn in line for their fire apparatus to even get started being made.
Ouch …Glad I don't have to do that report…
It's hard to imagine that the fire truck driver thought he would make it, there was no way.
People are impatient. They thought the gates were down only for the slow moving freight. They found out the hard way 😆
Common sense would say: what would stop faster. Train on its tracks ? Or a vehicle before going over those tracks

Funny. fire trucks people are driving not good
2:16 if there was a concurrent call why doesn’t the video show the lights being on on the truck at the moment of impact
When you don`t think fast enough.
Really!! What an idiot!! I’m not surprised the world we live in today!! we’re in the twilight zone!!

I can see the Lawyers jumping on this one. Full speed ahead. And the gates were down. Not only ruined the train engine but it took out the gates also.
If you can't clear the track(s), don't block the track(s)!!!!
Wtf why do ppl keep trying to jump the tracks
who's paying for the repairs to the train and the firetruck?? you are . Taxpayer money hard at work.
Make the driver famous … cmon
Fire dept should be the first dept never to block the rails wtf. Chief fired, staff fired. Start over!
how the hell did they pass the guard rails
Looks like there WILL BE openings for fireman positions at that firehouse!

Where is the training for the drivers, the arms were still down and it's a double track
The fireman said, "but gee, we had our flashing lights on."
All those agency's to figure out the obvious.
And that’s why auto insurance is skyrocketing in Florida, even the ones supposedly with the best driving behavior are going crazy
Obviously he thought the freight train had passed and it was the reason for the gates being down, not realizing a 2nd high speed train was approaching. Proves why you don’t cross until the lights stop flashing and the gates raise up.
Why did they stop on the tracks? If they had turned on their lites and sirens they could have just kept going.

Yeah that's definitely the fire department's fault. There's really no way that a train hitting a vehicle at the crossing is the train's fault ever
Yeah the fire trucks have fault either went around or he's stupid God bless😢😢
They should both lose their pension and be fired the firefighters could have killed a lot of people lazy to get paid all day 24 hours at pisses me off😢
Flashing lights mean stop 🛑
Why do news reporters always say – they are looking into what caused this crash? Check out the video – the fire truck stopped on the tracks.
Most train accidents is because people are driving around the gates when they are not supposed to
Florida people make it so hard to have bright line service
but you're supposed to stop for fire trucks
It's quite clear that the train is a Decepticon and the fire truck was an Autobot! Autobots, roll out!🚒🚄
When you are a fireman but still a Floriderpian.
MOST Floridian drivers are allergic to common sense, especially in South Florida….I see it daily. 🤷🏽

I hope thay bill the fire department, how stupid do you need to be!
the story would have been more awrful had it been a normal truck.
