🐶 Janien’s Journal 🐶
Hello all, I hope you all had a wonderful Christmas Day yesterday.
I was just sitting here and I thought enough of the talk and excuses I’m just going to post our first Barney and Loki video.
Quick reminder, because we apologise for the delay in posting this and you may have forgotten the story or missed it altogether.
So 2 dogs were spotted emaciated and running scared out the back of Cessnock, eventually one dog, a giant friendly boy Chucky, was captured but the second dog was missing, and as they were both so emaciated concerns for the wellbeing of the second dog became desperate… roll forward and a trap was set up where the dog had been seen on a couple of occasions and finally White Claw (we changed it to Barney) was caught.
Meanwhile a similar sounding description of a dog was coming from the Central Coast, emaciated and terrified. It also appeared to be the same breed type as the 2 Cessnock dogs, coincidence?
Roll forward and another trap was set up and the dog Loki was caught.
It then came to light that the first dog that was caught and was quite friendly was chipped to a man from the Central Coast, that man had vanished. After more investigation it was discovered that the other 2 dogs, were the first dog’s pups.
This video will be quite hard for many of you to watch. The physical condition of these dogs was terrible, but it was the mental damage to the 2 young male dogs that was heart wrenching. They were just terrified, terrified to move, terrified to look at us, just terrified.
I won’t say I hope you enjoy this video, but I hope you understand the work that was needed to help these dogs heal and live … or want to live.
We are so often criticized because we are a Pound, but this shows the level that some dogs come in to our Pound, the work we do behind the scenes to ensure that the dogs that come into our care have the chance to go to be adopted out by us, or go to another Rescue Group that puts their hands up and says ‘we can help you’ to continue our work and find our animals their best new lives.
We often try to explain to people, unlike a Rescue Group, we do not get to pick and choose what condition or temperament an animal is or has when they arrive, we just have to work with it and what problems it may have, and we do, with no complaints because we just want the best for them. Most Rescue Groups can just pass them by and pick out the ‘adoptables’ from our ‘Animals in Facility’ list.
That is why we are truly thankful to our Rescue Group Friends that continually take our ‘less desirables’ those that are going to take a long time before they will be ready to be adopted, and some of animals may never be adopted, but at these Rescue Groups they have the time to wait until they are ready, no matter how long that is. Unfortunately, as a Rescue Group working from inside a Pound our animals up for adoption do have a timeframe.
So please keep an eye on our new ‘Monday Mates’ posts where we are highlighting these Rescue Friends who are going that extra mile to assist us and give our ‘babies’ their best chance of living the lives they deserve.
As always thank you for your support it means the world to us all.

My heart is shattered! Thank you for helping them! I hope they make it to good homes! ♥
Omg 😭
You do amazing work to help these poor dogs. I’m always shocked there are two kinds of humans. The good ones and the bad. It’s so difficult to watch but humans did this to him and my heart goes out to you all. You are so dedicated and I thank you for it. I hope the owner is prosecuted and imprisoned for his treatment of these dogs as he deserves nothing less. I hope you had a good Christmas Day. Wishing you all love and kindness in abundance for the coming year.
Wow. Not going to lie. This was hard to watch. If these dogs have any hope it’s because of you Dee, and your dedicated team. 😭🙏
It doesn't matter how long it takes, every moment is worth it. My 2nd boy from RSPCA was shutdown, he didnt cope in kennels and had been fostered out to a lovely couple who didnt appear to know alot about dogs.
Crikey, what a hard job! And back breaking. All of you have much more than the patience of Job. Trying to teach a terrified creature with whom you cannot communicate that they are now in a safe place where they will not be hurt ever again: nearly impossible as we can see. I am so thankful for the work you put yourselves through and I worry for what you have to cope with, have to see. Wow, just wow. And then to top it off, on the videos you can't even let yourselves swear! Thant part would be super hard for me. Not swearing at the animals or expressing anger towards any of them, but just blowing off steam or cursing the creeps who treat animals so badly. I see such competence in all of you, such commitment, such compassion, and a willingness to go through the really, really hard stuff to find the moments where the animals begin to understand. It's like how the blind wild child Helen Keller had to go through a lot of hard stuff to understand what her teacher Anne Sullivan was trying to teach her, Good music in the background, too.
Love is definitely a battlefield. The first time ie seen the catchpole used, but I know its the first part of the journey.
Suggestion for you. Have more soothing music for the dogs to help them call down.
Familiar voice behind the camera.
You are a very special person, Dee. Your team are pretty amazing, too. ♥💜♥
There is no cruelty about that, I hope you succeed with them❤🌹🌟
Yeah that is absolutely brutal, but you are doing it for their own good. Unfortunately when you have time as an issue, it's 10 times harder. I suppose desperate times call for desperate measures. I have seen plenty of dogs pee with fright, never seen one……well you know. I cannot help but wonder if these dogs could be from the same place as Hope and poor old Faith the Boxer mother and daughter, that went to the farm, They were shut down like this too, except they had no fight left in them…..
I'd like to see the person responsible for this crap going through exactly the same thing. I'd put my hand up to do it for free.
I wondered what happened to all these big dogs. Glad to see them with a bit more condition on them but OMG what a fight…… Thank all of you guys so much for caring enough to fight with them, for them………..
Oh Dee and Don — Heart breaking to see how terrified these precious pups are and thank you so much for your kindness and perseverance with them. The irresponsible, cruel inhumans who do this to animals make my blood boil. ❤❤
Bless you Dee😔That was so difficult to watch. It was super stressful. I can't imagine what these poor dogs have been through to make them so terrified….this one made me cry for them😔
Such a difficult job socialising these terrified dogs in such a short time. Thank you for your hard work.
When one can’t help (apart from donating) it is even more difficult to see this. What you do, Dee, is very difficult – made more so by your devotion to animals. But I suppose it has to go hand in hand, one would’ve do without the other. A PayPal donation coming your way again. And a virtual hug to all those pining animals that need hugs so much ❤
To be so young and so traumatised is very, very sad!! There is absolutely no excuse for the treatment they must have endured – I wish them all the very best for their future and hope they learn to trust once more and realise not all humans are evil!!
thank you for helping them….they'll be all right poor babies
Thank God for people like you. This was a hard one to watch. I kept thinking what a monster this man is , to do such a thing to these poor doggies. He should not be allowed to walk among us. What ever punishment he receives will not be enough. Love to all at the shelter.❤
GOOD MORNING 🥰🏜🌞😎🌵👍👋
Dee and team, thank you for your strong and on-going dedication and loyalty to these and many other dogs, cats etc. You are the best of the best!!
My heart breaks for Loki how scared he was. I thought he might break his neck or back during his struggles. Your team is awesome Dee.
Thank God for you Dee to see what a constant and tireless champion you are for these dogs restores my faith in humanity bless you lovely women ❤
What the owner did to those dogs are atrocious may he should be treated how he treated his dogs to see what those poor dogs went through 😢
Wow! That was hard to watch. I cannot imagine how hard it was to be handling those poor dogs and witnessing their intense fear. I would have had to go lay my head down and have a good cry. Hopefully, part 2 will be the light at the end of the tunnel. Good work Dee and team CCACF.
Would Luke work with them Dee?
I'm wondering if they have been abused with these restraints by whomever dumped them.
Thank you to each one of you ladies for trying to rehabilitate these dogs behaviours while medically treating them for emaciation. Not all dogs who arrive at a shelter are adoptable right away. Some have been abused mentally as well as physically. This video needed to be shown to show what an animal abuser has done to these innocent dogs. Animal abuse needs to be dealt with more seriously and with consequences to the abuser. These dogs deserve better. Thanks for caring for them even though it is not an easy job.❤🐕😺❤️
