So sad I missed the stream but excited to see Ox play this
I enjoy this new tomb raider reboot series
Played the originals as well but really like these new ones, looking forward to the 4th one when it comes out
You’re looking thinner man, not sure if you’re doing something but looking good!
Hard exploration difficulty (7:19) that turns off survival instincts is actually more enjoyable, IMO, because otherwise you'll be tempted to rely on that feature all the time and you'll spam that key on the keyboard until your finger grows blisters, in addition to seeing a black-and-white screen all the time instead of the colorful photogenic environment. And many things are not that hard to find. When games have this environment-scanning feature for clue-hunting, I often don't use it or turn it off, like in AC Origins, AC Odyssey, etc. The witcher sense in Witcher 3 (and 2) was the only time I found this feature enjoyable.
The brightness looked fine to me even though someone complained it was too dark (1:08:29). Some darker games need to be seen in low-light condition (and also on a properly calibrated display). Same with movies too, since movies are made for darkened theaters. If you watched Godfather on a smartphone outdoors in broad daylight you wouldn't see a thing, since it is a famously a dark-looking movie.
Hey Oxhorn I hate to be a party pooper, But could you turn off the native language function please? It may lesson the emersion enjoyment. But ever since I lost my eye sight I'm only able to lissen to your videos. And whenever the games have characters speack some other language I'm left missing half or more of the story for that part. With that function on I won't have any clue what's going on. Sadly turning on the caption reader only leads to a confusing mess, because it tries to read off both what is being said and the occational subtitles at the same time. If the entire game is mostly non english audio I sadly will have to drop from lissening to this gameplay series due to being unable to follow the storry.
Love to see you finish this trilogy. I really enjoyed the thoughtful collectables and art. It's always a pleasure to see Jonah of course!
That early scene at Cozumel (26:14) was a frame rate killer when the game came out (may still be for some) because of ray-tracing and tons of light sources in that scene. That location is fascinating and lovingly depicted in great detail. It's a great piece of "videogame tourism." They made Lara walk slowly to make sure you look at it.
Wait. NOW Jonas is the skeptic? He was the first one to accept the weird when they were on Yamatai
Hey ox, I was wondering if you were going to continue the “Do you know your history” prints, but with the text and old world flag
This game doesn't really use survival mechanics, you can progress and get through the game perfectly fine without having to use the endurance or focus mixtures. And this is the first time Lara's actions have actually caused something to happen, in the previous games when it was part of challenges, those were from players actions, not Lara's.
I am probably in the minority here but will you please not have it in native language mode?
Being lost in the jungle is nightmare fuel…..
absolute legend. Love your insights into the condition of lara croft and jonah cant wait to see you play the rest of the game im currently half way through and man oh man is it a wild ride much love oxhorn stay beautiful
@08:28 West Scots is not "Bawsack!" It's "BAWBAG"! Back in 2015(ish) Glasgow had a storm called "Hurricane Bawbag" because of a meme: a wee Ned (local redneck) in nothing but shorts yelling at the sky, "Ho, Bawbag! Get doon here so I can hammer yeh! Ah'm havin' a barbeque, yah, ****!"
Ooh, Mayan is your thing? Ever played "Broken Sword: The Obsidian Mirror"? There's a "Beneath A Steel Sky" Easter Egg in it for yah, sonny…
@1:45:00 Lara's in a jungle covered in mud. Well, sure, at least when Predator turns up she should be good. (Apologies for the many comments but watching OD and commenting live.)
It's fun watching Ox struggle with knowing where to go because on hard explorer difficulty it turned off the white paint on the wall scramble points and the ledges.
It takes 3 healing plants to heal every time; nowhere on the Internet tells you that. You can only carry a max of 24 healing plants, which means you only have 8 heals. In my playthrough I used the slow-motion ability a lot, great in boss fights. You get that with the plants that have the hourglass icon. When fully skilled-up, you can slo-mo for 30 seconds. Skill up your max carry capacity so you can carry 45 plants = 15 slo mos = practically invincible. And those plants are everywhere.
