Oh, no we aren't afraid of war… We fear the consequences!
😂 there are reasons we as humans have rules… some rules are meant to be broken, and others… you pray they aren't.
A guy I knew wife asked him to stop getting into bar fights for a similar reason. Didn't want him to go to prison. Some people you just don't provoke.
Smart lady. She went from being the emperor's second wife to being the sole ruler without lifting a finger; and comes out of the whole mess, not only smelling like roses to the sector at large, but looking like a saint to all of her own people who survive.
She has made her own powerbase unassailable from internal competition, and left herself in an allied position with the dominant military force of the sector, right after that military put on a display to remind everyone why not to mess with them.
And by her given terms as part of her withdrawal from the war, she ensures the humans will be quite thorough in eliminating her future competition, all while keeping her own hands clean.
That is true political cunning. Taking one step that makes everyone else's actions put you where you want to be, by what looks to the outside like sheer happenstance.
Clever girl.
They are, but not for the reasons you think.

The machinations and manipulations of females is likely a galaxy wide phenomenon.
How many of these friggin stories boil down to "Genocide is bad but we did it because someone somewhere threatened a kid"
And on top of that, Gesalec got paid a hefty sum to buy himself a big-ass station, lol.
