A metro bus driver was stabbed and killed near Seattle’s University of Washington campus early Wednesday morning, police have confirmed.
The driver was identified as Shawn Yim during a press conference with the Amalgamated Transit Union 587, which represents Metro drivers.

I don't care too much about a picture of the perp, but can we please see some pictures of the driver? I almost never ride the bus at 3:30 am but the story is just heartbreaking and the driver deserves to be remembered.

What was the issue?? No issue should result in death, but I would like to know what caused the driver and the passenger to physically fight out into the road. I have a feeling the driver was defending the other passengers from an aggressive nut. VERY SAD.
Meanwhile, a fraction of the country thinks Daniel Penny is a killer.
I read that the metro driver requested the bus windows to be opened due to condensation build up (makes sense since it was a wet evening). This passenger became upset/irate because he wanted the open windows closed. An argument ensued between the driver and passenger, who then broke the plexiglass barrier and bear sprayed the driver. The driver and passenger both stumbled out of the bus where the passenger proceeded to stab and drag the driver to a nearby alley, who ultimately succumbed to his injuries. So my question is why is the media not showing photos of the metro driver and the suspect? There is video footage from nearby buildings and from the bus cameras, yet media will only tell it is is a person wearing a blue jacket and stands at 6'1".
Someone just trying to make a living, doing his job, and these kinds of… people… who do nothing but cause destruction, harm, & kill. My heart hurts for his loved ones, and everyone affected by this. This has affected me, too. 😢
As someone who is always lived in large cities and appreciate all essential workers including transit operators I am disgusted by the lack of respect for these drivers.
Transients that ride Seattle buses all day and all night without paying fares and without any regard for authority are simply dismissed as having "mental health issues".
They are criminals, pure and simple.
