Accidents happen and I’d be a liar if I said I’d never messed w my phone while driving (mostly at stop signs and I swear never again.) I watch true crime constantly and I’ve heard the worst things imaginable but this moms testimony had me in tears. I have an 11 yr old boy and they r so small, no mom should have to go thru this. Everyone makes mistakes. But erasing the text after killing a child? (So he’s in the road and she’s busy trying to cover her crime)I rear ended a fam on accident once. No one was hurt but I heard their baby crying and I felt so guilty I kept telling the cop how it was all my fault and was the baby ok…. I felt so guilty for just scaring their child. And I wasn’t texting. Amy is a vile sociopathic selfish monster. She wouldn’t take the plea for community service? Are u serious? I know first offense shoplifters who got two yrs community service and this child killer wanted less! And now she puts this poor mom thru this! And at best she’ll get a year! Unbelievable!! It’s not the prosecutors fault, it’s their job. But things need to change. This mom shouldn’t have had to be here and this women should be getting at least 15 yrs add on a few more for erasing the text and putting mom thru this and for being arrogant. Make it at least 20! To Ollie’s mom if u happen to see this…. Oliver was beautiful and looked like such a happy boy. I’m glad his last day was spent having fun w his friend. And you seem like a wonderful mom and your strength is admirable. I could never do what u just did here in court for your boy. Getting justice for him. It was heart breaking. But u are so brave. I’m praying for u and your family. I am heart broken for you. This should never have happened. And I for one have learned to be more careful. God bless u. And I hope Amy gets that ridiculous one year, loses her job and never has a peaceful day again in her miserable selfish life. I can’t believe this monster was so against community service that sitting thru this was preferable. Obviously she doesn’t care how the mom feels. But that aside I can’t believe sitting thru this devastating testimony is easier than a yrs service. If she has any heart at all (which admittedly is questionable) how is this easier than community service?and after that testimony we all know she is now gonna get that year. So what’s her game plan here? Arrogant and stupid.

Unbelievable. Manslaughter is a charge exactly for this reason. Her negligence directly caused the death of this little boy. If I was the father I would be absolutely furious. The system has failed them.

Texting and driving is no different than drinking and driving. It's a choice, and the teacher deserves major jail time for making these people testify instead of accepting responsibilitie
This is disgusting. She didn’t set out to hurt anyone. What she did is something that many other people do. Yep…just like drunk drivers do when trying to get home. Just like speeders do when late for work. And yet…they’re hit with REAL charges that lead them to lifelong incarceration. And then there’s…this. This is completely ridiculous. This poor family being forced into a trial because this jackass woman’s brain looks identical to that of a koala.

Crying so hard. I would have just said, stop. I’ll plead guilty just so the mother could stop reliving this. Then a pic of her son was shown to her. I lost a son so I feel her pain. So heartbreaking. Hugs and praying for comfort for this family as God comforted us during our son’s passing. My son was 4. His brother was a baby. He screamed for me to take his baby brother from the train urn. He said he was too big and I was hurting him. The most horrible pain to tell a little boy his brother passed.

the only silver lining here is that from the sounds of it, oliver lived a fun and good life during his time here. <3 nothing to do with his death or the incidents around it. i'm just saying if you pause and think of his little smile and what it must of been like to go all over the world and have cool experiences at his young age, it's just sweet to pause and reflect. i'm glad his parents showed him that.<3
Far too many people use their phones while driving. In the UK it’s as serious as drink driving. So sad 😞
10 years old is too young to be riding alone in any neighborhood
If a child is old enough to ride a bike by himself without adult supervision, he should know to stop and look both ways before crossing an intersection, not to ride his bike in opposition to traffic as this is a hazard for both motorists and other bikers. This accident could happen to anyone, because a child should not have been riding his bike on the road without adequate supervision and learning traffic rules. An adult bike rider would have received a huge ticket for riding their bike in the opposition of traffic.
I don't want to blame the victim or his parents, but I had a friend get killed after being struck by a vehicle when I was a child. She had crossed the street to pet a dog and never looked both ways before crossing. She walked right out in front of the car. It was horrible as all the kids at her bus stop witnessed the accident. She was bleeding from her ears and nose and was so unrecognizable that the casket had to be closed at her wake and funeral. The driver was a mother and may have been distracted by her two daughters in the backseat who attended the same school. I remember being so upset that she was never charged with a crime, but all the kids saw the child step out in front of the vehicle and her trying to slam on her breaks including her daughters in the backseat.
This is why dash cams are so important, as this accident could literally happen to anyone, because a child is not old enough to understand or has not been taught the rules of the road. She was driving the speed limit, but did not expect someone driving a bike in opposition of traffic. The reason they have 30 km speed limits now is because child bodies are beyond recognition if struck at 40 km by a car, especially an SUV.

She has to plead not guilty to the careless driving charge, because it will cost her billions in a wrongful death suit if she is found guilty, when he was driving on the wrong side of the road, did not look both ways before crossing and drove out right in front of her. Her car insurance has probably set her up with the best defence counsel, because this child should not have been riding his bike on a road with heavy car traffic when he did not know the rules of the road. An adult bike rider would have been ticketed for riding his bike in opposition to incoming traffic. Him being unsupervised and unknowledgeable about bike rules and looking both ways before crossing a street endangered every motorist on that road. This could happen to anyone. Mom should be charged with negligence and inadequate supervision of a minor. Another mother was taken to police custody for letting her 10-year-old walk on the street alone.

I walked in this moms shoes up until I saw my child lying on the road. When I screamed "I'm her mom" my child yelled "mommy I'm ok" . When she saw my face, she asked " am I going to die?"
The ABSOLUTE HORROR IS REAL. From that first phone call. May this mother and family find peace somewhere. RIP Oliver!

I just started watching this and you have got to be kidding me a traffic violation? That is absolutely horrible. Why was it not some kind of manslaughter or something other than a traffic violation. I feel so bad for the family I just cannot even imagine the pain of losing a child! My thoughts and prayers are with that family! A young life taken too soon over texting! I realize accidents happen, but I would never ever put that family through a trial! If I was texting, I would admit it and do what I had to do because I would never get over it myself let alone Ollie’s poor family.
