Not so sure about usefulness of national ID cards. The US has drivers licenses, which are considered to be a basic sort of ID card that pretty much everyone accepts as ID. However, now illegals are being issued drivers licences; previously, one had to be a citizen to obtain.
My partner, Emma is 55 and she doesn't get Miranda either. She has tried to watch it but that only lasted 5 minutes before she's turning over or turning off the telly.
