i would bet that if you built a 3 sided box to keep Key's paws from going off the side or to far forward, that he would pick up on how to walk on this quite fast. just put him in a harness and hold him like he is at the water treadmill.
You may want to take another look at the User Manual for your treadmill. Most say it’s unsafe to just wear socks when walking on it (even grippy socks are unsafe). Please be safe.
