We should start a pool to guess how far along the evolutionary path mars got (or never started). Once we know, this will help identify the great filter event and where it lies in our chronology.
I've known about fresh water aquifers on Mars for a long time. The best of these will be found between latitudes 30 to 45 north and south at average depths of 1500 meters. The do surface occasionally and gather salts on the way up. This is the source for the occasional spring like leaks in gullies that are seen to appear then evaporate.
The ground water is also the source of those clear tubes that have been found, also in gullies. Yes. Mars is still geologically active. There are heat plumbs that, as in Yellowstone, heat water which rises and, when pressure is sufficient, bursts through and lengthens these tubes. Then the pressure abates and the flow stops resulting in another what appears to be a section of a "glass" tube. Perfectly natural.
Simple bacterial life will be found in the aquifers. This will serve as the basis for the merging of Earth creating new forms which will eventually supply the soon to be Martian colony with a food source.
This is not speculation.

Not just barking up the wrong tree, …not even in the right Forrest. All the geology on mars was not caused by water, but electrical activity. If you were able to see with fresh eyes, and not have your brain clogged by a mass of preconceived ideas, you would be able to witness first hand , overwhelming evidence by simple observing how the landscape was carved out, if viewing the possibility that atmospheric electrical activity ( thunderbolts ) was responsible

Actually, NO…
the deepest man made well on earth is about 7.62 miles where as what you quoted for mars is slightly LESS than that, not more, at a depth of 6.85 miles. This doesn't mean it would be easy, it simply means your math is off.
Liquid water under the Martian surface means possibility of subterranean microbes. I find it difficult to believe that the basic molecules of lifes building blocks are found in meteorites that have hit both Mars and Earth… and both planets gave exchanged debris from collisions… that life would only form on Earth early on but not Mars. In fact like the laws of physics are the same throughout the universe… and the laws of chemistry are the same…. I suspect the "laws" that animate life from inanimate molecules are also the same throughout the universe and that at minimum simple life is very common… and willing to bet it is under the Martian surface…. right next door.
With flowing water there could be caves…. canyons under ground with warm lakes heated by the warmth of the Martian interior. I bet thete is life down there. Part of the reason Mars lost its atmosphere is lack of a magnetic field so the solar and galactic charged particles that are shielded ny earths magnetic field…its the cause of the auroras here… no such magnetic field exists on Mars so over 100s of millions of years the atmosphere is stripped away.
More evidence that water wasn’t delivered to Mars and earth after their formation, but instead was but one of the components that built the planets from day one.
I wonder if Anton believes Elon is still going to Mars? I get the feeling that ship has sailed. And other than being the mule for NASA to the space station, his Mars plans have been shelved.
