I like to think that our captured German ships are crewed by their former crews, and much like the Varangian Guard now fight for the Empire. They’re doing a bang up job as well, holding down an entire sea region by themselves!

Oh i just had a thought, you should make the byzantines colour purple. Its most fitting
the torpedo bug is basically that they get stuck rotating.
When designing the ship, rotate the launcher all the way around to check that there is actually space all around. the color-scheme is not always correct in that aspect.
Granted it still makes for an annoying bug for directional launchers when they try to aim outside of their reach……
That was a pain on the IJN DDs with the lowered deck parts.
Also, the AI dodging is super annoying knowing that the torps are aimed at the current direction and speed the ship has without taking account of the turning, and there is nothing to do about it xD
So basically, never fire torps at a turning ship unless you are super close……

You could try designing destroyers like the German "Jäger" that is to be seen in GOS, 3 funnels, and a load of torpedoes.
Why do you even bother with messy torpedoes (at considerable own damage/loss) if your Battleships can easy manage the enemy from distance?? I understand throwing terpedo boats into middle of enemy formation while you face huge enemy fleet but if you are in advatage, why do the risk??
24:28 "They (Austria-Hungary) still have ships, but where they are, I have no idea." Right after saying that, 3 Austrian units are visible on the map in the Southwestern Indian Ocean on closer inspection and one more parked on the Netherland coast.
Torpedoes thought.
Add three new fire modes, forget safe normal and risky, try Fan, Spread and line. A fan of torpedoes aims at center mass of a nearby group of ships, and will spread the launched torpedoes evenly, good defensively or when you charge headlong into a line formation to disrupt the formation. Spreads of torpedoes instead focus single ships but launch 30% ahead of the expected course and speed, one at it and 60% behind the expected course and speed in case they maneuver or turn away, spreads are unlikely to hit with more than one or two torpedoes but are more likely to score one if the torpedoes run true. Line torpedo deployments lob everything at the expected course and speed heading hoping for a concentrated shotgun blast of death that will miss entirely if the target evades in time.
This will make torpedoes both more useful, more reliable, and a tad less deadly in most situations. Fans will spray torpedoes that will likely miss, but demand a reaction from you, Spreads will reliably hit but typically only with one, maybe two with high torpedo counts, and line launches are deadly but easy to evade.

The Dresden class Prostatevméno katadromikó Augsburg from the Rhodes Naftikó Stathmó in Dodecanese, was joined by five Yperaspistis class Antitorpiliká, the Miles, from the Tripoli Naftikó Stathmó in Tripolitania, the Komnenos, from the Suda Naftikó Stathmó in Crete, the Basil Theodorokanos, from the Durazzo Naftikó Stathmó in Albania, and the Yukon Cornelius and Eustathios Argyros, from the Latakia Naftikó Stathmó in Syria, on a commerce denial mission, hearing reports that the Innsbruck class Gepanzerkreuzter Klagenfurt was escorting eight 12 thouand ton 62 manned 3.7” armed transports out of the Adriatic Sea.
Augsburg sighted the convoy and the Klagenfurt, and Miles led the Antitorpiliká in. In typical escort fashion Klagenfurt circled near the transports, making herself a difficult target. Miles launched, with one torpedo already veering, while Komnenos followed in. Klagenfurt seemed to have dodged all four when another torpedo veered into her. A second also hit but was a dud. Miles began to pay, with the transports peppering her with 3.7” shells. Komnenos missed with her torpedoes and Basil Theodorokanos did as well. Eustathios Argyros broke formation and tried to close for a better solution.
The transport Jupiter sank with 60 of her 63 man crew as Eustathios Argyros finally launched on Klagenfurt. Unfortunately Eustathios Argyros was in the convoy and taking close range 3.7” fire as well as 3.1” fire from Klagenfurt. Klagenfurt caught all four topedoes, fore and aft, and began to flood. Yukon Cornelius launched her torpedoes at a transport, and missed. The transport Uzsok sank with 59 of her crew as Eustathios Argyros began to flood and lost all her engines. Eustathios Argyros had almost coasted free of the convoy when one more flooding hit sank her with 66 of her 73 man crew.
The transport Lissa surrendered after losing 27 men. The transport Amstettin surrendered after losing 28. Augsburg turned to engage Klagenfurt. She launched a torpedo that hit, but was a dud. Augsburg finally got the flooding hit to finiah Klagenfurt, sinking her with 927 of her 1014 man crew.
The last four transports, the Salamander, who had taken 10 casualties, Teodo, Juan de Austria, and Bad Vöslau, broke for home. Augsburg, with 1 casualty of her own, picked up the 7 survivors of Eustathios Argyros, the 87 survivors of the Klagenfurt, and the 78 survivors of the Austrian Merchant Marine, which had lost 49 thousand gross registered tons of shipping and 184 officres and seamen killed.
Miles had 18 casualties, Yukon Cornelius 3, and Komnenos 1.
A Guerra Fria Turns Hot 05:51:

A Guerra Fria, the Cold War, is what the Lisbonne press has been calling their technical state of war with the Aftokratoría tis Rómis. Pressed by the French in Brazil and their Atlantic Island colonies, the Marinha Portuguesa has not had time to engage the Aftokratorikó Romaïkó Naftikó.
Until now.
Three Duque de Palmela class Cruzadores Blindado, the class lead Duque de Palmela, Angola, Goa, joined three Cruzadores Protegido, the Lisboa, and the Calipso class Fernāo de Magalhāes and Esmeralda, in a suicidal and pointless attack in the Adriatic against brought three Thoriktó 1is vathmídas, the Vasillissa Olga, lead of her class, the Chios, lead of her class and the Chios class Elli, the Lützow class Thorakisména katadromiká Hansa and the Velos, lead of her class of Thorakisména katadromiká, the Dresden class Prostatevméno katadromikó Karlsruhe, six Yperaspistis class Antitorpiliká, the Conquest, Demetrious Laskaris Leontares, Sarissa, Hero, Archimedes, and Euphemius, and the Nearchos class Torpilovátes, Nearchos-7 and Nearchos-10.
Elli led Vasillissa Olga and Chios with Hansa and Velos following to form the battle line. Karlsruhe would follow them, as Nearchos-7 and Nearchos-10 fell back to await orders for an attack. The Antitorpiliká under Conquest, with Demetrious Laskaris Leontares and the rest following, went forward to scout the enemy under the heavy overcast and fog.
Fernāo de Magalhāes was the first ship sighted and Conquest opened fire on her. Pretty good indication her 6.7” guns were out of date. Conquest launched her torpedoes at Fernāo de Magalhāes and got two good hits out of four launched. Conquest took a flooding hit in return and retired.
Demetrious Laskaris Leontares came up next and drew a torpedo launch from Fernāo de Magalhāes. She sent four back and then tried to turn away to avoid the Portuguese strike. Both ships took three torpedo hits. Sarissa was up next and targeted Lisboa as Fernāo de Magalhāes sank with 349 of her 368 man crew.
Sarissa launched her four torpedoes at Lisboa hiding under smoke. Two missed acros Lisboa’s bow and two duds hit the ship. Hero was lagging, giving Lisboa time to prepare. Her port torpedo launch missed Hero, who came directly at Lisboa. Hero ended up ramming Lisboa, but this sprung her plates under her main tower and Hero began to flood. Hero was also able to launch torpedoes from Lisboa’s starboard quarter, with all four torpedoes hitting but only one exploding. Lisboa got her starboard torpedo to hit Hero on the way out. Archimedes meanwhile had snuck in and put two of three torpedoes into Lisboa, one a dud. Lisboa suffered a magazine fire as a result. Lisboa sank with 300 of her 314 man crew.
Euphemius launched and missed, fortunately for Archimedes who was crossing behind the wreck of Lisboa. Esmeralda launched on Archimedes as well, but also missed. Esmeralda did get a torpedo hit on Euphemius. Euphemius took flooding amidships.
Elli and the battle line were up, and engaging Angola, Goa, and Duque de Magalhāes. Sarissa was reloading for a second run at Esmeralda with Archimedes behind her. Sarissa got a second pair of hits, but one was a dud. Esmeralda took flooding forward. Archimedes was still reloading.
The battle line was slowly taking out the Cruzadores Blindado, sinking the Goa with 177 of her 186 man crew. Duque de Palmela was already heavily flooded aft and amidships. She took a hit foreward and her #3 bulkhead began to buckle. As water spread forward she sank with 183 of her 186 man crew. Now having the battle line’s full attention, Angola began to take flooding hits, lost her main tower, and one of her main battery turrets. She then took flooding hits aft and sank with 168 of her 186 man crew.
Esmeralda was left. She was flooded fore and aft, and almost dead in the water. Shells began splashing the water behind her, telling her that her turn had come. With what momentum she had she tried to turn her stern to the oncoming ships. But finally a dry compartment was breached and she sank with 342 of her 368 man crew.
Sarissa took 9 casuallties, Demetrious Laskaris Leontares took 8, Euphemius took 7, Conquest took 6, and Hero and Archimedes each took 3. 89 Portuguese personnel were picked up, despite the fog. Hero had one man previously injured returned to duty and Velos had three.
Battle of the Gulf of Toronto 01:29:

The Dresden class Prostatevméno katadromikó Augsburg from the Rhodes Naftikó Stathmó in Dodecanese found the Ternitz class Austrian Leichter Kreuzer Zenta in the Ionian Sea and the Gulf of Toronto.
Augsburg sighted Zenta to the north, closing in on her. With her bigger guns Augsburg was able to open fire first. Because she was making smoke Zenta missed the incoming torpedo, but fortunately for her it proved to be a dud. Zenta was however already flooding forward, with an engine disabled.
Again Zenta tried to close and keep her bow in towards Augsburg, but Augsburg was getting around to her starboard beam. Then a 7” hit set off a magazine on Zenta. Zenta was able to get her bow torpedo launched but led Augsburg by too much, and missed. As Augsburg got around to the starboard beam she luckily took out the starboard launcher on Zenta. Augsburg was also able to launch her stern torpedo at Zenta.
Zenta was flooded forward past her mid line, with a list to starboard that was silencing her guns, her #1 engine still inoperable, her main tower destroyed, her forward 5.1” turret destroyed, and 127 casualties reported, as the torpedo came in. The torpedo struck just behind the flooded compartments, exploding with a solid hit. The flooding spread and #2 engine was disabled, then #3. Augsburg began to swing back to take advantage of the drifting ship. As she did a bulkhead caved on Zenta and the Austrian sank with 386 of her 400 man crew.
Augsburg took no casualties. She picked up only 14 survivors from Zenta. It was not likely any attempted to make it to shore, with Italy also at war with Austria, but some Italian speakers might have chanced it.
"They are too slow to get into range with their torpedoes" 2 minutes later!
