Binding broken pieces is like the aggregate in concrete making it stronger than cement alone. Also a metaphor for adversity makes you stronger.
Somewhat contradictory to repair imperfections with pure gold. Difficult juxtaposition with Zen and Buddhist principles. The craftsmanship is amazing but invoking Zen and Buddhism seems out of line.
