  1. That red custom shop one is absolutely stunning to me, epic.
I sold my fender strat. Now the closest things I have are one of the first korean chapman ml1s and classic vibe 70s and I love those and they play way better than the american strat I had lol.

  2. Playing electrics, mainly Strats, since 1976 and currently still owning 48 guitars. Not one Fender or Gibson among them, and I had plenty of each and they were all significantly worse than the competition. Roughly two thirds of my guitars are PRS, Eastman, Ibanez (semi-hollows only), Tokai, and Reverend. The rest is made up of some better known high end stuff (Knaggs, Shabat, Patrick James Eggle) and various smaller European builders (Haar, Smitty, Real Guitars, Tonfuchs, Schwarz, moews, Fibonare). After going through at least 50-60 Fenders and Gibsons in my life, I just gave up on them.

  3. I have a Fender 1962 AVRI from about 2010 or so. It is a bit heavy, but in every other way, a very nice Strat. It sounds Strat-y (as you suggested most Fenders do), and plays really well. I also used to own a Classic Vibe 60's Strat, and it was very nice. The pickups might have been a little thin sounding by comparison. I've never owned any non-Fender Strats.

  4. That’s probably not unusual John. I own 15 S-type guitars, none of which were made by Fender. My Strat’s are a mix of Suhr , boutique / luthier built, and self-built partscasters. I sold my last Fender Strat (a 59 re-issue) about 10-years ago.

  5. Not that Fender guitars aren’t great I think when it’s companies that’s replicating the style of the strat…tele…etc and those companies are doing it better quality wise especially the smaller hand built guitar companies

  6. I messed around for 25 years before before I found my Fender. It’s a EJ Strat Thinline. EJ Strat is the only non custom shop Fender model with a quarter sawn neck and my EJ has a perfecft piece of QS maple. I was heavily influenced by Slash as a kid and started my journey with LP copies. After a fine Tokai LP I played a PRS for 20 before I understood, that actually what I have been looking from the beginning are the early Fender tones and neck profiles. Fell in love with Strat and Tele. EJ Thinline is my favorite Strat and a Nash Dlx is my favorite Tele.

  7. I like American standards 2000-2006 except the tuners. Look for a light one.
My favorite Strats are Tom Anderson Icons. Fastest neck in the world!!! Great sounding pickups. Light and awesome care of process.
    I like SVL TOO!

  8. Anyone new to fender should stick to sss strat. Or ss tele. Like the les paul with 2 humbuckers. These are the extremes of guitar design. Anything else is in between and weak by comparison. Its why they were built. Mim is fine. Mij also but only if you stick to the original design pickup layout. A valve amp is a must. Everything else is very complicated and sucks the money from your pocket like coins in a casino. Choose effects wisely and keep it simple. Get the basic and add to it later. Or waste years and money going down many black holes that suck your efforts up and confuse you. I did it for 40 years. If i had listened to the guy in the guitar shop advising me that i should buy the fender twin reverb instead of the 2 ss combos for stereo i wouldn't have wasted years tweaking. Sorry to the guy with the curly hair in sound control in Glasgow way back in 1986.
