The dwarfs in the Snow White story were never human "midgets," they were Germanic Dwarfs, the same mythological race that Tolkien drew from for his Dwarves. Calling them dwarfs was never an offensive thing, it was descriptive of their race. It would be like complaining that the dwarves in Rings of Power are called dwarves, which no one does. I've heard people who should know better speak as if the Snow White Dwarfs were humans with dwarfism; that's really dumb. And I'm not talking about the casting, just the original story.
Speaking of dwarfs, one really interesting take on them was in the Michael Crichton novel that "The 13th Warrior" was based on. In that story they were actual human little people who were sent to a dwarf colony at birth because they were thought to be magical. It is an old dwarf woman who advises them on how to defeat the villains, whereas in the movie they just make her a generic old witch. I've always loved that take on the "truth" of the mythology. I love the movie, but the novel (one of my favorite books) is ready for a more faithful adaptation. Unfortunately, modern Hollywood would mess it up for sure.

Calling them dwarves to describe a short,stout race of mining people isn't wrong. Having dwarves be gay bakers with matching beard tattoos in Dungeons & Dragons is VERY VERY wrong. 🤬👎👎
