1 thought on “Catherine de Medici: The Black Queen”

  1. I don’t know if I would call her ruthless or violent. I’d opt for calculated, witty, clever and a Queen. I wouldn’t surrender my throne, my ancestors legacy, my kids future without a fight either. The Protestant came after her entire family. What was she supposed to do? Go down without a fight? I have to give it to her, her plan worked like a spell. She thought of every detail and took care of business. If a man would have done what she did ( which history is full of men far worse ) nobody would bat an eye. However a woman fighting back immediately means she was power hungry, ruthless, a witch. Nope! I am with Catherine on this one. Never give up, never surrender. If you go after a Queen you better have your ducks in a row and expect an Alexandrian battle
