Newsweek Senior Editor-at-Large Josh Hammer claims President Joe Biden’s pardon of his son “stinks from top to bottom”.
US President Joe Biden has pardoned his son Hunter Biden for his gun and tax convictions.
“There’s no precedent for this,” Mr Hammer told Sky News host Rita Panahi.

This will set a precedent in more ways than one. First of all it will strengthen the power in play to use the powers already bestowed to them upon any and all pardons in the future and it will extend to the Power to Act as President in decisions pertaining to war. War crmes and charges will have differing effects. This advantage will be useful as President Trump may need to use his power to use Nukes and other weapons of mass destruction in order to insure an American advantage over other parts of the world. But this is THE SECOND ATTEMPT to get Hunter a blanket "pardon", the first was part of a plea deal in July 2023 that Judge Norieka threw out as beyond the law – BLANKET PARDONS for unknown crimes is not acceptable.

I'm not sure when the presidential pardon was created but I doubt very much it was intended for a sitting president to blanket pardon (himself and) his family's criminal enterprises while employed in the highest elected office in the country.🤔 just a hunch but I bet I'm spot on.

By the same token, the President pardoned his only survivimg son. (Like the King, Biden had 2 sons. But the other son passed away.)
As to the prior use of Presidential pardons, as Carter left office, he pardoned his "black sheep" brother. It was a very comprehensive pardon. And I was in my early 20's when President Ford comprehensively pardened then former President Nixon. That was for the good of the country
If Nixon wasn't pardoned, we would have seen massive lawfare cases 50 years ago. Thank God we have not had 50 years of lawfare. That's a recet development.
The Presidential pardon is actually the one and only power that the US has which is stronger than what the King can do.
America elected Biden. This is the politics of power and pardons. It is part of the way Biden operates. No surprise here. We got what the majority voted for.
The presidential pardon power was included by our Founding Fathers to avoid oppression of one faction of the nation against another faction. It is also part of our checks and balances design. A Presidential pardon can make null a Supreme Court decision — it might some day save a future patriot (God forbid things get like that).
It also can save individuals from laws made by Congress. That could be important in some future day. The Executive Orders of the President fulfill the same function … with a few limitations.
