  1. I really appreciate that you differentiate between o and ö but in this case I think perhaps you meant to write Noël(=christmas) and not Nöel!

Absolutely amazing episode, I hope the hangover was survivable

  2. As a Chicago resident, EVERYTHING Revolution makes tastes like a damn IPA. Their summer shandy tastes like an IPA. I didn't buy any Fistmas this year because I knew it would taste like an IPA and I'm glad to be vindicated lmao

  3. Is it possible the note you're tasting is phenol? It's kind of a bandaid-y 'medicinal' flavor. It's caused by certain yeast and bacteria strains, an abundance of certain fermentable molecules (tannins for example), or in the case of undesirable phenol, the unintentional introduction of certain bacteria.

I had a spanish cider a couple weeks ago that was VERY phenolic but after the shock of the first sip was honestly quite tasty. It's not for everyone, and some people are much more sensitive to it than others.

Also, Straffe Hendrik is a great beer from a cool brewery: they crowdfunded a pipeline exclusively for beer, but I don't know if it's still operational. Regardless, Bruges is awesome and worth a visit especially if you like Belgian ales.

  4. Wells Sticky Toffee Beer. It has the Christmas dessert flavors out the wazoo.

Psst! It's deh-KOHR-uh Iowa. Those of us who revel in Toppling Goliath's successes love hearing their town said right. lol

  5. I always thought of Barley Wine as the quintessential Christmas Beer. Barley wine, Winter Ale… Rich, smooth, malty, slightly sweet, rather high ABV, between 8 and 11 % or more. Its a sipping brew, certainly not one to swill.

  6. I think this is the first episode i’ve watched in several months after binging the whole catalog a while ago. I miss the episodes where Greg taught us to make good cocktails. The awful orders/worst drink i’ve ever had episodes don’t do it for me
