In Full: Exclusive interview with President Zelenskyy talking Putin, NATO and Trump

Volodymyr Zelenskyy has spoken exclusively to Sky News’ Stuart Ramsay, setting out Ukraine’s ceasefire conditions.

In the wide-ranging interview, the Ukrainian president compares Vladimir Putin to Hilter, describing the Russian leader as an “animal” and “terrorist”.

Mr Zelenskyy said NATO membership would have to be offered to unoccupied parts of the country in order to end the “hot phase of the war”, as long as the NATO invitation recognises Ukraine’s internationally recognised borders.

  1. I love this man. He is truly a great and compassionate leader. It breaks my heart to see him with his back against the wall. Unfortunately, Ukrainians were betrayed by the West. Dating back to the 1990’s, we have participated in several treaties/agreements meant to guarantee Ukraine’s security and independence and have done nothing to enforce those agreements.

  2. The position of Russia in such circumstances is that the question of the existence of an agreement on the non-expansion of NATO in the eastern direction should be considered in the context of relations between Russia and NATO and Russia and the United States, since it determines the likelihood of a potentially possible entry of Ukraine into NATO, which is considered a threat to Russia. The NATO leadership points out that the decision to limit the expansion of NATO has never been taken, and its adoption would entail a change in the fundamental documents of the alliance, and the support of Ukraine by NATO cannot pose a threat to Russia. The proposal not to expand NATO eastward, which was one of the ways Western countries took the initiative on the issue of German reunification and reducing the possibility of the Soviet Union's influence on this process, was based on the provisions of the speech of German Foreign Minister Hans-Dietrich Genscher in Tutzing, announced on January 31, 1990. In it, the minister, among other things, called on NATO to unequivocally state: "no matter what happens in the Warsaw Pact countries, there will be no expansion of NATO territory to the east, that is, closer to the borders of the Soviet Union." His proposals aroused interest among the leadership of Western countries, which began to consider the possibility of obtaining the consent of the USSR to the unification of Germany in exchange to limit the expansion of NATO. The reverberations of WW2 and the dissolution of the Soviet Union are still felt throughout Europe. The USA should support Ukraine self determination but we should not be escalating the war by allowing our weapons to be used in Russian territory, they should only be used as a defense in Ukrainian territory where there is a Russian presence.

  3. Ukrainian people are courageous and heroic. Putin started the war, his army is on Ukrainian territory. Western allies could have helped more, but they didn’t. Small heroic nation is fighting a big monster

  4. Big balls doing this in English. Vultures will jump on every word. Wish the Budapest signers would own their honour and give Ukraine what it needs, then apologize, then help rebuild 👍♥️🇺🇦

  5. Historically Russia has been Ukraine's greatest enemy. Russians have not changed since Moscow came into existence in the 9th century, they always waged war on Ukraine, which has a history of over 2,500 years!

  6. The comedian is afraid of losing his people? Really?

10m Ukrainian refugees living abroad and a million young Ukrainians dead?

Prior to his election, Zelenska had no political experience to speak of : and let's face it, he has got Ukraine into am atrocious mess

  7. I’m not an expert nor politically motivated or biased. But making some part of Ukraine NATO will probably create a never ending disaster. It will be equivalent (or somewhat similar) of what happened with India in UN for Kashmir long time back. Indian politicians went to UN and unfortunately it broke Kashmir unjustly in two parts. Creating a never ending disaster for everyone.

If Ukrainian leadership gives in just to save lives, it may bring peace temporarily. But there will still be part of Ukraine who will not be happy with this decision and divide Ukrainian people further. May be fueling future civil wars etc.

  8. Act on the Proclamation of State Autonomy of the Donetsk People's Republic of April 07, 2014 | Constitution
    April 7, 2014
ACT ON THE PROCLAMATION OF STATE AUTONOMY OF THE DONETSK PEOPLE'S REPUBLIC
    Donetsk, 07.04.2014.

In Ukraine, with the support of the legislative, executive and judicial authorities, a coup d'état has been carried out by illegal paramilitary formations.
The new government is feverishly seeking protection and support in America and Europe, from those who have been virtually ruling our country since 2005. The leaders of the state are signing bondage agreements with international organizations. The country is being drawn into NATO.
Centuries-old fraternal relations with the Slavic peoples, the peoples of the Commonwealth of Independent States have been destroyed
The most brutal censorship has been introduced in the country. An anti-Russian psychosis is being fomented, the image of the enemy of the brotherly Russian people is being formed. A nationalist pro-fascist dictatorship is being established in Ukraine with the support of oligarchic capital.
Residents of Donetsk region and many deputies of all levels, who care about the future of our land and the people living on it, who care about friendship and cooperation with the countries of the Customs Union, are categorically against cooperation with the criminal government, do not recognize its illegal decisions.
Expressing great anxiety and concern about the increasing tension and insurmountable contradictions between different parts of Ukraine, based on the will of the people of Donetsk region, confirming the priority of universal human values, commitment to universally recognized principles and norms of international law,
The Regional Council of Donetsk region proclaims the establishment of the Sovereign State – DONETSKAYA NATIONAL REPUBLIC.
The DONETSK REPUBLIC will build its relations with other states in accordance with international law, on the principles of equality and mutually beneficial cooperation. The territory of the DONETSK NATIONAL REPUBLIC within the recognized administrative boundaries is indivisible and inviolable. This Act shall come into force from the moment of its approval at the all-oblast referendum.

  9. I sympathize with his situation. What has happened to Ukraine is very tragic. Sadly he never believed that he could loose the war although every serious analyst knew Ukraine did not stand a chance against Russia. I hope this becomes a lesson to leaders to always prioritize the interest of their people at all times.

  10. No matter what people say about this man, I admire his tenacity and courage in the face of all the horrible aggression, destruction and murder committed by Russia on his fellow citizens. To think that PUtin can just erase, dismiss, ignore and just plain DESTROY hundreds of years of history, language, culture, tradition AND LAND THAT IS UKRAINIAN clearly demonstrates his long term goal of the reestablishment of the USSR and its iron curtain a la Putin. We must support the president and the people of the Ukraine, no matter what mistakes have been made in the past. We just can't let a billionaire murderous tyrant have it his way.
