Japan’s Summer Holiday is MUCH BUSIER this year

Tokyo’s Haneda Airport is super busy this summer vacation season after 2 years of quiet travel over Japanese Obon holiday.

  1. Hi John, loved your tour of Haneda, hope to see it for myself soon. At least you are giving us independent travellers hope. There is a wee boy called Rui Chan who I have yet to meet. He's 1yr old on Monday.

  2. I flew domestic to Haneda two weeks ago so I was an arrival. The next day we flew international. The terminal was like a ghost town. Check-in for my own flight was a breeze. I've a photo from the upper level showing every check-in area but one completely void of people at 1pm.

Most shops are closed or only open on weekends. MosBurger and the fast food shop beside it were the busiest places in the entire terminal.

Hopefully, Japan will open to international travelers soon. It's evident that citizens, residents, and others allowed in have done just as well at spreading COVID even with PCR testing.

  3. Yeah, if I'm traveling I want to go on my own around town. Seeing the sights that I want to see, taking my time looking around, and staying out as late as I want. So I'll have to wait till it's officially open to individual travelers.
    Have a great flight John!!😊

  4. Safe flight ✈️. New Netflix show for your family Old Enough about young kids doing things by themselves weather store or shopping. See if you’re wife and her friends agree with the program or not. Don’t forget to ask Peter to ride on his motorcycles 🏍 when you can . At least those capsules won’t lose your luggage 🧳 like in the 🇺🇸. 👍📸🙏✈️🗼🇧🇱

  5. We've had automated baggage handling like that in Australia for a long time. Qantas was one of the first airlines to introduce electronic bag tags. I'm glad to hear that domestic travel has picked up. That will help get the hotels working again for when international tourism is allowed.

  6. Japan probably wants slightly elderly travellers . They will have the money or obligation to spend money at the tourist shops the chaperones on the tour bring them to to get souvenirs. Still contributing to the tourist economy but in the way the industry dictates

  8. Hi John, I am AC. Please give me (us) an update for international traveler. Do Japan allows independent traveler to visit? On your last update for traveling guide was only allowed for a group tour, bussiness person and students… is there any new update that I missed ? Thank you
