It seems to me Earthgov's fall is a pretty close mirror to the Sovereign Colonies 200 years earlier. They both faced rapidly dwindling public support and resources. They both tried to turn to the markers in a desperate attempt to turn things around, and it both cases the markers ended up being the last nail in the coffin for them.
What a coincidence – I just started it same day you've uploaded this video. The new features got me confusing – it's no longer usual "keep plasma cutter and weapon with most expensive ammo to sell when dropped" strat… somehow dismantled Plasma cutter on my first attempt with new bench.
