Thanks for sharing Roy' s extraordinary story. I've heard in several times and it still moves me deeply. I served in the Mekong Delta as a combat infantry officer advisor with MACV 1968-69 (not MACV/SOG). Roy exemplifies the privilege of serving our country. We may not have been the Greatest Generation of our Father's WW2 era, but we were the best America had to offer. We went to war without America's approval and returned without America's welcome. Whenever two Vietnam vets meet for the first time, the traditional greeting is, "WELCOME HOME, BROTHER".
Now you know why that fight is called 6 hours in hell.

Love the footage of the real man at the end. Hearing him talk, his spirit is better than the amazing story. You can hear his gratitude and humor and his lack of anger and lack of self-pity.

The VA sucks
Ronald Reagan believed in small government. He made it his mission to try and cut government programs and eliminate waste to reduce inflation, reduce the nation's debt, and save money… I believe that's an admirable goal… that being said though, it was a mistake to try and touch veteran benefits. If anyone has earned the right to money, healthcare, and benefits from the American people it's our proud veterans and those programs are some of the few "entitlement" programs I actually don't have any issue with my tax money going towards.
