  1. Obsereving the SMT boardgame campaing beeing going downhill thou, if you check the strechgoals it's based on number of backers 2000 for the first and then 3500 and 5000. There was also BIG lack of communication, they only responded after several days beeing absent and other problemes occurd:
Japanese text and english text are printed on the same card, english text seems small.
Shipping seems to be planned already at 2025 witch seems unrealstic then it raise other concerns: if it's ready by then, why don't they have the game rules ready as pdf file? No gameplay video.
That's way to little info for a company asking +400bucks for just riding on an IP. Checking the comment section people will probaly tuirn a 180 on the last day…

  2. I have given up on Aiwaiken Realms. So little originality from the company imo

Their first standout game to the world was an alien ripoff.

Their best game is a remastered classic. (Castles of burgundy)

Grimcoven was another bloodbourne ai ripoff.

Etherfields is the one thing I'd say that was unique.

  3. Awaken Realms was a little company that worked hard and put their heart to their starting games. Was just a painting miniature company and one day decided to create a board game, and wow ! What a beautiful game it was! The edge downfall. From there the adventure started….

  4. I actually cancelled my pledge for Lands of Evershade, not because I didn't like it but I have far too many campaign style games now its going to take me years to get through them, and some of them have sat on my shelf for a long time.

I might wait till it comes in the shops and see how I feel then.

  5. The horrible A.I. design of the characters in GrimCoven is what turned me off to the game. Many characters looked exactly like a bunch of crap was thrown against the wall and whatever stuck was what they went with – exactly how A.I. art works. Seems like AR doesn't even "touch up" the A.I. art as a lot of it is obviously wrong at first glance.

  6. You should cover Captain's Log New Horizons. Its an Sea, Exploration, open world game. They are coming out with their China and Portugal & Myths and Legend expansion. What makes the game unique is it has a Standard mode, and an Expert Mode. In Expert Mode your ships may be effected by a wind mechanic. I had a game were I was just a explorer, and my one friend was playing a pirate. He was literally chasing me to take me down, and steal my resources, and the wind just wouldn't let him get to me. Just a very fun game.

  7. When you talk about Awaken Realms' crowd funding, as well as other, in general, what I want to see is what I am buying. You say they are purposely making art that's so far removed from what we will get…The real issue is that they haven't given their teams enough time to generate all of the art and for some games (not A.R. specifically) they don't even have all the rules locked down. So, the game delivered in 1-5 years from the end of crowd funding, isn't even the game that was backed. It's either a very cheapened version of it or incomplete version, or just flat out a different game in rare cases.

  8. You need to get over your AI art thing… AR games look amazing when they deliver. The art and minis look great. Everything gets adjusted and cleaned up by people. You spend more time on this than actual issues in the boardgame industry or covering great games in a timely fashion.

  9. Another thought…. ‘You always get a good price for AR games with tons of stuff.’ ‘You can afford to hire artists or you can’t’.

Maybe they can offer a competitive price because they use modern tools that keep costs down.

  10. 37:54 Since we live in a world where 2 genders are not enough, using type A and type B is the safest option for them. Instead of worrying about crazy people shouting at them that their game is not inclusive enough, they dodge that bullet and they can spend their time making the actual game. As for the use of AI, I am fine with it, especially when the creator is a small company or an indie dev. The art I have seen so far from the game is gorgeous. It is likely no longer a matter of cost with AR, but mostly a matter of time. It is way faster to have AI throw at you 10000 images and choose the 100 that are even better than what you had in mind, then ask an artist to fix any weird parts, than having 3-4 artists put to paper what you have in your mind, then go through several reworks and have all of them share a cohesive style.
