What Seems Like a Simple Problem Is Really A DEATH Sentence For This RAM Truck

Customer brought this 2012 RAM truck in for what seemed like a simple issue. I had to give them the worst news possible. What happened and why is it so bad? ⚙️🎨 MRS. WIZARD PARTWORKS (Auction ends 12/4/24): https://www.ebay.com/usr/davidthecarwizard 🎨⚙️

  1. That's 2 hours of learning for you, I wouldn't charge either 😊 To prevent this I would do oil changes more frequently than what the factory recommends but use the factory recommended synthetic oil.

  2. Everyone needs to become a mechanic and fix their own cars !
I would like to know the service history, because a V8 should do more than the mileage that this has done !
She's a body off job for engine extraction.
A Go part Hellcat Engine for a bit more grunt .

  3. My hat is off to you for not charging customer. The truck is a bit rough, but I would spend the money for a rebuilt engine and transmission.Which is exactly what I will do for my1994
F-250 with 128K, which I bought new; whenever it becomes necessary.

  4. All these people saying it’s not worth it , I would agree with you, if I had to pay somebody to install it for me. If you’re not mechanically inclined then yes it’s dead. I got rid of a low mileage Explorer when it threw a rod through the block, I had no where to work on it , mechanics wanted almost $8K to install a used engine, almost $12K for a rebuilt, so it got scrapped.

  5. Except the short bed 4 dr this basically my truck that I beat the hell out of running from 10 miles to 100 plus carrying loads and towing sometimes at those speeds. I got 185,000 plus miles and still have most of the original parts and spark plugs.so I can not understand why this one failed. But I do agree if you are going to work on it Fix it right or sell it to someone who may. It is worth about 2G to me because of other issues and may cost me almost as much as it is worth, I do not cheap out on repairs. Mine is long bed 2dr that is in high demand and hard to replace so I will fix it till I die not the truck for this reason. This truck is a grocery getter not a truck in my opinion and the market is flooded with them. 4 g is max I would spend plus the 2 I offer. This a low model and needs other work done.At 149,000 I have 0 history of service and it has plenty of wear. this engine is easier to drop from the bottom not out the top. You need a lift. I would dump it and buy a Camry since you probably bought this to compensate. 2 G toward the purchase of a Camry and you will get 40 Mpg not 13. I see this as little DI++ truck and mine is medium with a long bed. Have to throw some comedy in.

  6. This is what happens when you don't keep up on the maintenance of your ride. I just hit 267k miles on my 2010 Ram 1500 4×2 and the motor is still solid…doesn't even have the hemi tick!

  7. Putting in a new engine isn’t a big deal especially if you plan on keeping it and it’s paid off. Seems like a good truck other than that and some cosmetic issues. New trucks are damn expensive

  8. A, B, or C. None of the above. Low compression on bank 1. No Hemi tick, no audible mechanical noise? Check head for gasket leak. Oil, coolant, analysis. An $8000.00 dealership scanner may show embedded historical overheat code. Warped head finally compromised gasket. Would you pull/replace the engine for a head gasket? Throw a couple bottles of head gasket sealer at it before you scrap it. We don't mess with the 3/4 and 1 ton trucks. Probably a good thing. Just stick with the sissy cars. Lol.
